Escondido finally closed down

Escondido finally closed down

I heard in the Inn Doors this week that Escondido is completely closed now. The last day of opening was Mothers Day, and now they're calling it a day. Shame, for Sandgate to lose a place to eat but we did not love it the last several times we had been. It was not the same since it moved across the road into the old Gate 28 premises, though I am probably showing my age there.

Also I reported the Lime Bar was closed when I went past, though I saw posters advertising events for next month around town. So what is going on? It does seem to have been closed since the beginning of the year (get me with the up to date news) but the website was not updated.

Speaking of websites there is a new one from the Creative Foundation. It is a bit glossy brochure sunday supplement, but at least it is being updated...

This is part of my site The 'Gerald that I built in a fury of excitement when I first came to Folkestone in approximately 2004. I'd been a frequent visitor for a while previous to that but I am technically one of those Down From Londons you get now. The site was updated more frequently with a calendar of events and voting for favourite places and stuff, and I know it was a useful resource for those who were moving to the area. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though only to Hythe) it doesn't get as much love as it used to. Ironic really as The town is now becoming the exciting place we always thought it was about to become. I am not Gerald BTW, the name comes from a pretend paper in an episode of The Day Today or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local newspaper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are great aren't they? Do contact me if you have something to contribute, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on Twitter.
