Where did that go then? I'm sure I was only at work an hour or so ago and now it's time to go back again... Tired today, had quite an action packed weekend that just went too fast. Started off with work drinks in Trashford, a couple in the Phoenix (Smith and Jones), then a pretty good curry in Zarin. Oddly early time to be eating curry, we were in there before 7 (we got out of work early) but it was a good call for everyone to be able to eat together. Zarin looks modern in its decor and its menu, but all the food I saw on the tables was quite traditional. Next stop on to Bar Three Zero which was OK for a bar, then by about ten I thought I should go home, so I did. Whatever Clare says I was not drunk when I got in and did not fall asleep on the sofa and snore.
Saturday, shopping, we helped the inlaws choose a new telly and we bought a fantastic new camera, it's small and fast and light and has some groovy gadgets that we can't quite get to work like magic smile detection, and some groovy gadgets that we can work like a massive touch screen on the back. It really is nice.
Saturday afternoon we went to a bonfire and firework party with Clare's family on a farm, kind of near to Ashford again, then back to Chambers for a drink.
Yesterday we did something different, we went to a lecture by David Starkey on the last hundred years of the royal family. It turns out he's local, he must live in Hythe or Saltwood, so the bro-in-law probably did not imagine seeing him at Sandling station that time. The talk was like a preview of the new TV series, though he was more sarcastic and amusing in the flesh. Got another one of these talks later in the week, Monty Python's own Terry Jones. Both of these talks are at the new "Folkestone Academy", a new school. It's quite a swanky design, but the inside of it does look a bit prison like, with metal walkways spanning the interior. All that's missing are the big nets stretched across to stop Mr Big who's in with the screws chucking you from the top.
Going out late afternoon and back home again by evening made a nice change, it messed up our chili timing though, we had our big meal at lunchtime and and just a small tea.
Tired now, looking forward to this weekend.

Give that posessed keyboard it's own record deal...
Badly Drawn Boy last night were absolutely ace - that Damon Gough is funny as you like, a natural entertainer, a talented frontman, and the hairy offspring of Peter Kaye and George Dawes.
The set was a fantastic shambles, which is pretty much how I remember it from Glastonbury - is it accident or design? Whatever, it was music as it should be, fun, seemingly effortless.
Much as the robo camera stole the show at the Coldplay gig the day before, the ad-libbing keyboard should get it's own record deal, or at least a solo spot at the next show - it was butting into all the songs with little drum fills and bossa nova rhythms after Damon spilled a drink on it.
Will it work on TV? We will see...
I'm full on into the Monarch again now, it's an ace venue, and they've got some really good stuff coming up, including And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead on the 21st, stay tuned for the review...

I'm not falling into the trap of making resolutions, but I am going to try and get a few more things sorted. Had a fairly productive Christmas, so why not continue in this vein? Oh yes, spurred on by my new toilet seat, here's what I'm achieving...
We have got INTERNETS on the PSP within litterally DAYS of owning it, this is fantastic. The PSP is a great piece of kit, the screen is great and the games are great. Having a built in web browser and wirelessness just makes it fantastic. I had a load of grief setting up my IPAQ on our home network when we moved to Folkestone, ie it didn't work immediately so I gave up on it. Investigating setting up of my new camera (thanks Andy) I realised I had super tight access control, stopping anything but my PC connecting to the router. So now everything in the flat is connected wirelessly, which is great. It does seem a shame that while we're doing internets "wirelessly" in the front room we really need to have the power cord plugged into the PSP or IPAQ though, it really drains the power... Anyway, great to be getting more use out of the IPAQ again, even if we're mostly just playing Scrabble on it.
Music; for ages I've had no speakers on my work computer, so to listen to music I've had to get on the floor, plug in my headphones, and remember to unplug them again when I leave. Then I rolled over them with my chair and they stopped making sounds. Now, not only did I buy some, but my lovely rose of Clare bought me some too, so I have a pair to leave constantly at work, and a pair to carry with the IPOD! No more kneeling on the floor just because I got some promo, that turns out to be rubbish anyway!
Bank accounts; We needed a new bank account, I had been dawdling over getting one for ages, and we had some cheques to pay in. We went down to Nationwide in Folkestone while we were off, and it was all done in about half an hour! Next stop investments... I'm about to get some shares in the company as a result of our reverse takeover, and my very old shares in what the company used to be. This will be exciting, and I may pay closer attention. Soon, oh yes, all these things will provide us with an income and we can sit at home full time looking at squirrels out of the window and eating christmas puddings.
Property; If I was resolving to take more of an interest in Folkestone property, I'd be jumping up and down at the news of a neighbouring flat selling for 205k, I'm sure that's a two bedder too. My property map is playing up at the moment, Google Maps have made a change to their API that's stopping the pictures of property popping up, gah... Still, sounding good! Maybe we will start looking to move, get a bigger place before we can't afford it. Maybe.
What else should I try to achieve? We tidied the flat, I fixed the toilet, I won money off everyone at pool, what else is there in life to achieve? Man I'm feeling positive today...
