This Tuesday, 28th of May, read story for full details...

Top Scottish rock band Idlewild will play a warm up gig ahead of their T in the Park festival appearance (13th July). The band who recently appeared on the David Letterman show in the states and have a new single American English (released July 1st) and a new album The Remote Part (released July 15th) will play the new Barfly Club at 260 Clyde Street on Tuesday 28th May.

Admission to the gig is free but is exclusively limited to T in the Park ticket holders only. And as the venue has limited capacity it is recommended that all those wishing to attend arrive early.

Damn, more evidence for the gradual Americanisation (is that a word?) of the English language... I try hard not to slip into American English as I like the quirkiness and irregularity of UK English e.g. spilt instead of spilled, learnt vs. learned, spelt vs. spelled, cancelled vs. canceled, despatch vs. dispatch and so on. Looks like the Firefox auto-spellcheck for EN-GB is a bit polluted with US English though? I'll get off my soapbox now and back onto the sidewalk, I mean pavement and stop evangilising, I mean preaching.

Also there's an excerpt about from the Emergency and Relief booklet by the American Red Cross, published 1913:

No. 76. (English). A dairy man, 29 years old, was drowned. He was accompanied by his wife, who was saved, and intended to settle in . There are no children. The widow estimated the property loss at $1,200; from other relief funds in this country she received $250. She returned to England in April, and from the English funds was granted a pension of 20 shillings a week.

Died in 1959 and in interred in the churchyard of the Church of Holy Trinity, Weston Lane, Weston, .
