Recently (May 08) refurbished and reopened, all the scum bags have gone, so has the pool table and the TV. It's partly restaurant now, but it's really very nice indeed.

Hythe, Kent
Not all of my party are convinced of this one, but Zammo from Grange Hill (Lee Macguire I think) was in a pub called the Watersedge, in Hythe in Kent, Saturday just gone (4th December 2004).
It's true! One of his friends even called him "Zam". Or it might have been "Dan", in which case I'm horribly mistaken.
Just Say No.

Had a long weekend in Folkestone, but I have returned to chaos... www.popex.com, www.record-producers.com, www.channelfly.com and other work sites all down... not big issues to fix, but annoying... one of them the power lead had fallen out the back. www.barflyclub.com came back with the clock set wrong, which triggered a big email job on the wrong day, which is not so good.
Getting lots of comment spam and referer spam on here now, not a big problem either but a bit annoying. Blocking people from posting left right and center. So look out! There's something called sna-0.0.1 mikeelliott@hotmail.com crawling and apparently farming email addresses, so look out for it.
Right so the weekend, a very tasty luxury to have that extra day off. Started off with a fairly quiet Friday night, just one drink in Wards so as to show someone it was as quiet as we'd said, then back for a great takeaway from the Cheriton Balti. We need a microwave soon really, or to bring my platewarmer down from London (good idea for xmas) our huge platters got a bit cold before we could finish things.
Saturday was Clare's Dad's birthday, we saw him, then went around Folkestone town centre, then headed off to the fairly average Watersedge in Hythe for a night of beer and pool. Had problems with taxis too, funny sort of a night, I think we ended up back in Cheriton. Plenty of booze was had by all...
Sunday was the night of the Chambers Quiz so we thought, but no, it's been put on hold until Christmas night, so it's fairly unlikely we'll be along there to defend our title, fun though it might be... in the end we made our own quiz, and took it along to The Clifton, and Clare scooped the prize. Seems now Chambers *will* be open New Years Eve, some sort of indie-disco affair, we'll have to see. Don't think any of the rest of our party would be keen to go there.
Monday we went to Canterbury, did a lot of shopping, best thing we bought was a HUGE wine glass, it's real glass and about a metre tall... we've filled it up with baubles and fairy lights, and we're going to put our presents under that instead of a tree.

Managed to fit quite a lot in the weekend, we completed on the flat so went round there and sort of wandered about in the vastness of it, there's no furniture in it yet. Saturday we went to Gate 28 friends and family, and sorted out the minor detail of getting Clare to agree to marry me. Much champagne consumed after that, and phone calls to family... Sunday we hired a rowing boat on the canal at Hythe and again did quite a lot of drinking first in the Watersedge opposite Kai's in Hythe, and then onto the Black Bull in Folkestone, which is not as good, but we were quite lubricated by then. On the way home got a great curry from the New Delhi, it's half price there on the first Sunday of every month, much recommended.
Yesterday we went on the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway to Dungeness. Sat in one of the open carriages on the way there and ate our packed lunch, it was like a school trip. Got a bit chilly on the way there, so sat inside on the way back, and glad we did as it absolutely booted it down with rain.
Got home last night in time to catch the only two frames of the last session of the snooker, then watch that crappy film and the even more crappy mockumentary about Porridge, very disappointing. Couldn't sleep last night.
Today will be telling everyone about the engagement. Those who didn't read my drunken post from the early hours of Sunday anyway, oops.
