Fromt www.lonestarcomedy.co.uk:

hope you are all well and have survived the ultimately depressing month of january. we had the busiest night for months at lone star last month, and i feel that we did people justice with a fantastic show, so i hope you enjoyed it as much as i did!

apologies that the line-up was quite different to that advertised: matt welcome cancelled on the wednesday before the gig due to a double-booking (we were very lucky to procure a headline act to the fanastic standard of matt kirshen!) and colin owens (the open spot) pulled out at about 4.30pm on the day of the show - i was literally on the phone until the minute i arrived at the venue to try and persuade someone else to come down!

we've got a stonking line-up for you all this month, check this out!:

CHRIS LYNAM (chris appeared at the club last july, when the summer months dictated that our attendance was lower than usual. however, the noise of the laughter was so much that there could've been 400 people in the room that night (one guy literally fell out of his seat laughing). those who were there have been asking when he'll come back, so here he is! truly an experience not to be missed, and unlike anything you will ever see again - "wild clown in a class of his own" - THE TIMES)

CHRIS MCCAUSLAND (i first saw chris last year, and he blew the roof off the coventry club i was attending that night! he is almost effortlessly funny, and has been in the final of almost every competition going (including the channel 5/paramount comedy 'so you think you're funny?' in edinburgh) as well as being awarded the prestigious title of Jongleurs Best Newcomer 2004. "the new face of comedy in the UK" - ITN NEWS)

TOM BELL (having been a feature of the edinburgh comedy zone in 2004, and as part of a double-header show called 'the last show around' in edinburgh in 2005 - tom is probably a bit too good to be our open spot but, hey, sometimes we get lucky! he has a sublimely silly sense of humour, taking in tales of animals and pirates. he's also a regular contributor to bbc radio 1's 'the milk run' - "this man is a genius...pure anthropomorphic brilliance" - CHORTLE)

compere DAVE WARD (one of the uk's best comperes - he's been several times before and is always well received. he likes the club so much that he'll be returning more this year!)

all at THE LANTERNS, rendezvous street, FOLKESTONE
SATURDAY 18TH FEBRUARY - 8pm doors for 8.30pm start
£8 / £6 concessions
ticket & table reservations (STRONGLY RECOMMENDED FOR THIS SHOW - tickets have started to sell fast already) available from 07810864228

Hope everyone is well and enjoying the good weather. I have details for the next Lone Star Comedy Club - there may, or may not, be material about yoghurt so be sure to bring earplugs if you find such dairy based products offensive.

On the next club night we welcome to the Lone Star stage:

(Robin is a comedian, writer, presenter, all round popular culture pundit and film expert, boasting one of the most impressive CV's on the comedy circuit. As well as an amusingly brief appearance in BBC2's "The Office", Robin has also worked on E4's "The Pilot Show" and Channel 4's "The 11 O'Clock Show". If you went to see on his last tour, you would've seen Robin opening as Ricky specifically chose him as support for his entire tour. He is a genuinely fantastic comedian, and one of my personal favourites on the whole circuit - a real treat)

(In all fairness, Rhod would probably be equally at home as a headline act at the club as he is now much in demand as a top act in some of the nation's top clubs including The Comedy Store and Jongleurs, where he regularly headlines shows. He started stand-up in 2002, and now performs regularly in the UK and around the world. This summer at the Edinburgh Festival he will deliver his first full-length solo show entitled "Rhod Gilbert's 1984".)

(Some of you may remember young Lloyd from his storming 10-minute open spot last July. He's asked to come back and play again, and additionally he was requested onto the bill by Rhod Gilbert, so we're more than happy to have him back. For those who didn't see him, Lloyd won the Chortle Student Comic Awards in 2004 and is a real star for the future.)

guest compere WINDSOR ( is taking a month off, but we're pleased to welcome Windsor in his place. Windsor is a first class compere and stand-up who has combined years of street-performance skills with a natural charm and warmth, along with an enviable ability to make people relax. He'll be great.)

all this at on in on SATURDAY JUNE 18TH
Tickets are available now and are £8 full price or £6 concessions - please phone Richard on 07810864228 to reserve your tickets and tables for large groups now!

We have one more show in July featuring the truly unique , before taking a break for the summer. I have just had a peek at our line-ups for the Autumn though and there are some real treats in store.

Hope to see as many of you as possible in June!

A message from Lone Star Comedy:

Hope everyone is well and you all enjoyed the frankly bizarre talents of last month. We have a phenomenal line-up for this month's club (taking place this Saturday 21st May), featuring:

(Richard was one half of the prolific comedy duo Lee & Herring, who were the masterminds behind both BBC TV series' Fist of Fun and This Morning With Richard, Not Judy. He is currently performing a handful of stand-up gigs in preparation for his 2005 Edinburgh Festival show, "Someone Likes Yoghurt". "Herring is a superior comedian" - THE GUARDIAN)

(Some of you may remember Gary from his appearance at the club about one year ago; his fantastic performance then has led him to being the first act we've re-booked at Lone Star. He is a hard hitting, one-liner based comedian whose tightly written, original material makes him one of the most quoted comics on the circuit. "razor sharp one-liners" - DAILY TELEGRAPH)

(As our monthly short spot for new acts, Owen performs surreal monologues, tells laid back anecdotes and plays comedy songs on his Stick Dulcimer. "Owen's original songs and relaxed humour were right up my street. Fab" - BBC TEESIDE)

resident compere (he's funny, don't you know?)

SATURDAY 21ST MAY
Doors open between 7.45-8pm, the show starts at 8.30pm

Tickets are available now at £8 / £6 concessions,
early reservations are STRONGLY RECOMMENDED (due to Richard's performance, we are expecting the show to be extremely busy) and are available by phoning 07810864228)

As far as the rest of this season goes, we will
welcome (starred in BBC's The Office, and performed alongside Ricky Gervais for the latter's Politics stand-up tour last year) to the club in June and (a true circuit veteran, famed for some rather interesting on-stage antics involving fireworks) in July. Beyond that, we'll be taking a break in August when the entire circuit moves up to Scotland and then will be back for a packed Autumn season that will include a special show for the in September, a Christmas gig and a New Years Eve gig. Get your diaries out, folks.

Thanks, Tom @ Lone Star
