Big hen party booked in for Lone Star Comedy this Friday, a few tickets remaining though! Single tickets available online at Online via www.lonestarcomedy.co.uk but for two or more best call Richard on 07810 864228 or email lonestarcomedy@hotmail.com

[quote]The Lone Star Comedy Club returns to the Tower Theatre on North Road at Shorncliffe Garrsion in Cheriton – on Saturday September 27th.

The line up consists of THE AMAZING MR SMITH, SHELAGH MARTIN, compere TIERNAN DOUIEB, plus a newcomer’s act.

THE AMAZING MR SMITH has been described as Monty Python’s answer to John Williams. His combination of mad inventions and brilliant acoustic guitar playing make him one of the funniest and most original entertainers around. He is the world’s leading eccentric guitarist with funny songs, parodies and props, who can play the Blue Danube on an instrument made entirely of condoms.

" Delightfully eccentric comic musician " - Time Out.

''...Mr Smith is absolutely mesmerizing to watch and side-splittingly funny. He can make music from anything, including contraceptives, and the duelling banjos was a great idea. Mr Smith quite rightly got applause after applause and two well-deserved encores....'' part of a review at www.xsmalarkey.co.uk

SHELAGH MARTIN is renowned for her crafted one-liners – often surreal, sometimes brilliant, and frequently involving bizarre mental images of animals.

‘Sensational. I thought she was one of the funniest, and most refreshing female stand-ups I've seen and I wasn't alone. The audience followed her all the way on her increasingly surreal journey, and laughed their way through every minute of it. It,s a joy to watch the way her mind works. Class’ – Chortle review

TIERNAN DOUIEB

Gigging since 2003 after learning his trade on Dr Oliver Double’s stand-up course at the University of Kent, compere TIERNAN DOUIEB is quickly becoming known as a top MC and rising star on the circuit. With his fast paced energetic style, stupidly unpronounceable name and comedy topics ranging from dancing bears, being diabetic and sometimes Lionel Ritchie, Tiernan is now gigging all over the UK.

'Douieb was energetic, fast paced and his humour was full of kitch appeal and observations about the good and ill of modern British life.' bbc.co.uk

The home of FHODS, the Tower Theatre is currently the town’s best-kept secret and is the old Garrison Church at the Shorncliffe barracks. There are about 300 seats in the auditorium and a full bar service. Drinks will be available before the show starts, in the interval and afterwards. Don’t be put off making the effort – there’s ample FREE parking and you’ll love it when you get there! Take a look at the website – www.towertheatrefolkestone.co.uk – for a map and further details.

Tickets are Ł8 each and available:

AC/DC Competition!

Oct15

Pictures

Am I good to you or what? PopEx and The Fly are running a join competition, tickets to this sold out gig! I'm not picking the winners though : (

ac/dc competition
To celebrate the re-launch of the Carling Apollo Hammersmith as one of London's largest live music venues, AC/DC will be playing an extremely rare and exclusive gig on Tuesday 21st October 2003.

For one night only, Carling will be bringing Angus Young, Malcolm Young, Brian Johnson, Phil Rudd and Cliff Williams to London's landmark live venue to thrill and inspire a gathering of their most dedicated fans with a display of sonic power and energy that continue to define their live shows. The last time the band played at this venue was October 16, 1982, not only that but this is the first time all the seats have been removed to make it a standing only venue.

THE FLY & POPEX has teamed up with Carling Live to offer one lucky winner a pair of tickets to this event.

To enter simply answer the following question: What does AC/DC’s mentally-challenged axe-wielder, Angus Young, usually wear onstage?

Email answers to editorial@channelfly.com

And be quick.

Terms & Conditions:

  1. All entrants and winners (including their guest/s) must be 18 years old and over.

  2. Entrants must ensure they are free on 21st October in the evening and can make their own way to and from the venue in Hammersmith, London. Must arrive at venue at approx 7:30pm.

  3. The closing date for entries is midnight on Sunday 19th October 2003.

  4. Full set of Terms & Conditions available upon request.

Just to cover an extra base, there's Another competition on carlinglive.com where they're giving away 20 pairs for the gig up for grabs along with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for two lucky winners to bring a friend along and watch the band sound-check at the venue the day before the gig... Good luck!

"Anyone who doesn’t feel better after seeing The Amazing Mr Smith is probably beyond human help. Any government could save us taxpayers a fortune by making his inspired lunacy available on the N.H.S" Bill Morley, Bromley Little Theatre.
