Sorry you have to register at all to post a comment here, it's just that I've had trouble with spammers... then once I'd put that in place, my system for registering people was faulty anyway, bah, how many potential recruits have I lost for the Folkestone creative directory..?
Feels very smoggy today, you can only see blue sky if you look straight up, it's sort of greeny grey if you look up at the sky at any sort of shallow angle.
OUR NEW SOFA oh yeah, it arrived, and it's quite nice. Only two problems, they gave us the wrong cushions (easy for them to sort out) and the sofa has the wrong colour feet. This might be a bigger one, it's not meant to have those dirty great black blocks underneath it, they should be light to match the rest of our furniture... what on earth are they going to do about that? We've waited ten weeks for this already... What can I do, how much money back should I ask for?
Weasel coffee: it was quite nice. Obviously I have nothing accurate to compare it with, but I don't think it tasted of weasel poo at all. It reminded me of the fresh ground coffee we used to get from the market in Greenwich, where the beans were marinated in things like Amaretto. Not worth paying the price perhaps (it's rumoured to be the most expensive coffee in the world), but if you happen to be round my house any time in the next week or so, I'll make you a cup for free.

We are new to Folkestone and a neighbour recommended La Tavernetta for our 10 year anniversay dinner. We are the type who manage to go out to dinner once a year as we have 2 small children and an even smaller budget for luxuries. I am the type who rarely manages to wear high heels and any makeup so last night was hopefully going to be really special for us.
I wish I had asked Folkestone Gerald for a recommended restaurant - all we ask for is soft lighting, a candle, a little ambience, hot food and some interesting blackboard specials. Our dinner was more like the dining room at Faulty Towers so we left immediately after main course. Plus babysitter fee we are sorry to say £50 could have bought a week of nice suppers at home, even if I would have to cook it is better than a dismal night on the town.
Please help Folkestone Gerald - where next year? Maybe we'll win a dinner voucher in our local area before then with luck!
There must be lots of great dining in Folkestone/Sandgate area - wish we knew what the local foodies know.
Many thanks, Jenn Peters

Quick trip to Mum and Dad's on Friday, with an afternoon off work thrown in, to be there for a fabulous family barbecue for Dad's birthday - I knew it was his 60th really. Just a flying visit, but still really good, nice to see so many people in one go. Trained back to Folkestone (via London) and we were home again in time for tea on Saturday, and another night out. Shame it was at my least favourite pub in Hythe but it was good anyway to just hang out with people. I even drank lager.
I always complain about the taxis back from Hythe, it's always a nightmare trying to get one at peak times. I must always be complaining so loudly about this that I never get around to paying, because this week I did, and it was SEVENTEEN QUID! Just to get back from Hythe to Folkestone! Lordy.
Today, a day of grocery shopping, cooking for the week (Clare's making jerk chicken and salsa and I'm doing a bean stew and sweet potatoes), preparing a couple of disks of music for someone's wedding next weekend (still not decided whether to drop a few tracks of my own choosing into the playlist), and trying to get my external hard drive working. I've given up, it is faulty, I'm getting a refund. I've found lots of other people who've had problems with this drive, so I'm not bothering with a replacement.
Has felt like a nice long weekend really, coming back from Fareham but still having a whole day to ourselves here. Chilli for tea tonight, and Midsomer Murders...
