The Gurkha Chef

Now this is how I like my night's out to be organised, good work Dave!

A table is booked for 8.30pm on Thursday 7th August at the Gurkha Chef in Winchester. The address of this restuarant is 17 City Road, and is a short walk from the train station or a short walk from the town centre. Use www.multimap.com and SO23 8SD to get a map of where the Gurkha Chef restuarant is. It is a Nepalese restuarant, which is kind of a cross between Chinese, Indian and Thai, majoring on Indian. They have a pretty wide ranging menu, but I couldn't find an online version so you'll all have to wait and see!

Here is a rough plan for the evening, so feel free to join up at whatever time you arrive. Prizes will be awarded for the most trips round the
one-way system because you missed the entrance to the car park...

Bars in the vicinity of the Cathedral, starting at the Wykeham Arms (SO23 9PE), moving on to the Slug and Lettuce (SO23 9ES) and any others nearby... then a 2 minute walk to...

The Gaol House (SO23 8RZ), a Wetherspoons pub which is only a 5 min walk away from the Restuarant.

Download Festival

Limp Bizkit, Marilyn Manson, Iron Maiden, Deftones and more... C'MON!

This Download Festival is looking good, who's up for it? Two day metal festival 31st of May and 1st of June at Donington Park... Headliners are Limp Bizkit and Iron Maiden, also featuring Marylin Manson and the Deftones so far, many more to be announced... this will be the Anti-Glastonbury!



As well as a fat metal lineup and regular camping facilities they're also offering "a more luxurious alternative to the standard campsite that will offer things like Hot Showers, mains toilets, free lockers, closer vicinity to the entrances to the main arena and quality food and drinks"... Ee things have changed...

Forbach Orchestra 15th April

We are quite lucky to have an opportunity like this because the orchestra, consisting of 85 musicians, are currently French National Champions at their class and the conductor is internationally recognized. They are putting on the concert free of charge, because the trip has been organized themselves, funded by Forbach (The French town they represent). In addition to this, we have successfully applied to use the Leas Cliff Hall free of charge for the day. Therefore the £1 entrance fee will cover the promotional costs and any extra will go towards providing refreshments for the orchestra. I hope that by offering this type of event at such a low price, everyone will have the opportunity to attend.

If you are interested in classical music, this is an excellent opportunity to see it performed to a high standard on your doorstep. Alternatively if you are just fan of music, with tickets at just £1, it might be worth a try.
