- 2002 The Darkness @ Barfly (Wed 6 Feb 2002)
NME On night, with Kennedy Soundtrack
[leave a comment]- ULTIMATE gig, do not missI've just been turned on to the delights of The Kennedy Soundtrack - they're a bit nu metal, a bit rap, a bit all sorts of things, but they rock... Now who rocks hardest in the whole world? Yes, THE DARKNESS, and ROGER ME RAGGED if they're not doing a gig together! The Darkness and The Kennedy Soundtrack play together at the Barfly, Chalk Farm Road, That London on the 6th of February 2002, this is a gig not to be missed... [leave a comment] - 2002 Gilby Clarke @ Underworld, Camden (Thu 4 Apr 2002)
I went for Love / Hate as I used to love them in about 1990. Also Area 54.
[leave a comment]- Ooh, old reviewJust found something I wrote a few weeks ago: I saw Love Hate last night, used to love them when I were a youth, and they were still very good. The singer hasn't aged at all, he must be a vampire, either that or he lives a healthy lifestyle and not all the drink and drugs he kept singing about and espousing during the gig. The rest of the band have got YOUNGER, they're younger than me! Ah, I see what he's done, it's not the original band, just the singer. They supported Gilby Clarke at the - pauly

[leave a comment] - 2002 The Datsuns @ Camden Underworld (Thu 18 Apr 2002)
From the brief time when I preferred them over The Darkness...
[leave a comment]- Night of a million billion gigsSaw the Yeah YEah Yeahs last night, at the Barfly, and it was absolutely ace. And not just becuase the singer's top fell down and I saw a boobie and also I was stood behind Justine Frischmann out of Elastica and that. The YYY's weren't what I was expecting, they sounded mostly like this single I heard once. But I can't remember what it was called or who it's by. Can anyone help? Anyway, they rocked. The gig was rammed, a lot of industry, good to see them all queued up. Also there were lots - pauly
- 2002 The Darkness @ Bull and Gate (Sat 4 May 2002)

- 2002 Brian Wilson @ Royal Festival Hall (Mon 10 Jun 2002)
Yes of the Beach Boys, one to tick off the list. He was a bit unsteady on his feet but he had great support in recreating the perfect sound.

[leave a comment] - 2002 Morrissey @ Royal Albert Hall (Wed 18 Sep 2002)
Played a couple of Smiths songs, average apart from that.
[leave a comment]- Morrissey plays Albert HallThere's slim chance of any new material, but everyone's favourite ex Smiths lead singer is bringing his own brand vocalising to the Albert Hall. Oh, and also some other foreign places. Get tickets here. If they're not up there already they will be by 9am... Tickets, concert tickets, gig tickets, more ticket info to go here If I miss out on tickets this time, Mrs P will KILL ME. On a sort of related not, Johnny Marr's new album will be out in January. - pauly
- 2002 Camera Obscura @ Water Rats Theatre (Mon 23 Sep 2002)
plus support from Jesus and Mary Chain's sister. Think I went to both gigs they did here, 2 days in a row.
[leave a comment]- Camera Obscura @ Kings Cross Water RatsMeeting up in the Lucas Arms before... I like Beer In The Evening, well recommended Inspector, I'm going to attempt to fill it up with all the pubs I know in Stokey, Camden, Fareham, and Folkestone and I urge you to do the same... - pauly
- Lucas ArmsLucas Arms is a great pub, if it wasn't in Kings Cross I'd go there more. Gig was good, packed out, they are a bit like Belle and Sebastian, but they're tighter live. The support I saw was Sister Vanilla, aggressive girl fronted indie, a bit frightening. All round though, good work Track and Field. Bad head today. - pauly
- 2002 The Darkness @ Water Rats Theatre (Wed 25 Sep 2002)

[leave a comment] - 2002 Electric Six @ Barfly (Wed 23 Oct 2002)
plus The Crimea seemingly...
[leave a comment]- Electric Six TourElectric Six were top last night, they're like a big rock caberet Village People, ace... Sounds a bit dismissive doesn't it, sorry... Not the campness of the Village People, just that there is one there for everyone - there's the one who's like Neil Young, the one who looks like Jim Reid, the one who looks like [come back and fill the names in later when I've read a review by someone who'd drunk less], and so on... The singer is particularly ace, a cross between Brian Johnson and Rob Halford. - pauly

[leave a comment]- Datsuns or Darkness? Daddy or Chips?SO, tonight is the night of a million billion gigs, how often does this happen? Badly Drawn Boy, Radio 4, The Faint, Datsuns, Darkness, it's all kicking off... What gig should I go to? OK, so I've already made my decision, I'm off to the XFM do at the Marquee, featuring The Darkness and The Libertines, did I make the right choice? - Weekend reportSuper weekend, starting with The Mighty Boosh at the LCH, funny, good, we felt a bit old though, they do attract a young audience, lots of whom were dressed up. I maybe enjoyed the show a bit more than my companions, though it did feel a bit like a cobbled together string of all the funny characters from the show. It felt like that because it was that, like the TV show and the radio show before it. A few drinks after this in The Clifton, and then home to our massive telly - sorry no pictures of -
