- 2005 The Tears @ Astoria (Wed 16 Feb 2005)
Brett Anderson and Bernard Butler, weren't they in a band together before? One of the NME gigs, support included The Magic Numbers I think but we stayed in the pub and missed them all.
[leave a comment] - 2005 Goldie Lookin' Chain @ Leas Cliff Hall (Tue 22 Feb 2005)
CANCELLED!!! Do you remember howling them off the stage when they supported The Darkness last January? Well, they're BACK! You knows it. Update: oh no they're not, it's cancelled...
[leave a comment]- CANCELLEDLooks like Goldie Lookin' Chain have cancelled tonight at the Leas Cliff Hall, when did this happen? Is it apathy on the part of the punters, or is it (as I heard) that the band refused to play because of the reaction they got when they supported The Darkness just over a year ago..? The band have also cancelled their Irish shows, don't know if this is related... The Irish contingent at the Darkness show where the only ones being supportive of the 'Chain! Hmm, they've even wiped the scheduled -

[leave a comment] - 2005 Queen @ Main (our calendar) (Mon 28 Mar 2005) [leave a comment]
- QueenNot sure how much of a good idea it is, but I just got a couple of Queen tickets for when they play Brixton. It's on Easter Monday, and if you're quick and at all bothered you can get them here, oof not cheap, and there's some attempt at Ebay proofing them... I'm not selling mine though, me and the best man are going together! Obviously it's not actually Queen, I'm sure I remember going to a memorial concert for Freddie Mercury, which would indicate he's DEAD! Also I think John Deacon is too -
- 2005 One Night Of Queen @ Leas Cliff Hall (Sat 2 Apr 2005)
Queen tribute show... Is this the one with the chap from Stars in their Eyes in it?

- 2005 Some Girls @ Main (our calendar) (Thu 12 May 2005) [leave a comment]
- Some GirlsKeep forgetting to mention that soon we are going to see Some Girls at the Gielgud Theatre, a comedy, with David Schwimmer out of Friends in it. NO, NOT on TV! It's at the theatre! I think we're going on the opening night. Also, Clare is going to the Opera tomorrow - who said our lives would be empty of culture once we moved out of London? -
- Some GirlsSaw "Some Girls" last night, starring David Schwimmer, Catherine Tate, Sara Powell, Saffron Burrows, Lesley Manville I think... Ultimately a bit disappointing, because we'd built it up a bit. Since starting commuting we've not really done going out in the week, but we splashed out on this, and combined it with a few drinks, and dinner at Mildred's, as it's in the same part of town. Drinks were GOOD, in some pub that I forget, but then dinner wasn't all that. I had the special burger of the day -
- 2005 DONOVAN @ Leas Cliff Hall (Thu 12 May 2005)

- 2005 Richard Herring @ Lanterns (Sat 21 May 2005) [leave a comment]
- Lone Star ComedyRichard Herring's coming to Folkestone on the 21st May, he's headlining the Lone Star Comedy evening at Lanterns. Also appearing are Gary Delaney, Owen Niblock and resident compere Danny James... Richard Herring is ace, best known for partnering Stuart Lee on shows like TV and radio's Fist of Fun and This Morning with Richard Not Judy. Danny James used to play PopEx you know. -
- Someone Likes YoghurtSo, that Lone Star Comedy night is a bit good isn't it? This week's lineup of Richard Herring, Gary Delaney and Owen Niblock plus resident compere Danny James were fantastic. It was my first trip to Lanterns, but those stairs are worth climbing. It's a working man's club type layout, just right for comedy, easy to get to and from the bar during the sets without causing a disturbance. One FREAKISH thing about that place is the fire escape at the back - the door was open and you get an amazing a -
- I wrote thisI swear I made this up, just a coincidence they did it later. And actually funny. Good to see it online! www.youtub ... - Sherlock was good wasn't it?What a treat, I was not expecting this until I saw a trailer for the new Sherlock on Friday. Very predictable in places, I was so busy crowing over the bits I got right via the text that I missed some bits, so just watching it again now. Didn't they do exactly the same "arch enemy" bit in League of Extraordinary Gentlemen? That's what made me guess it right anyway. One bit I'm not looking forward to is the Baker Street Irregulars, in this modern version they are sure to be some dreadful stag -

[leave a comment]- Les FoosWent to the Astoria last night to see The Foo Fighters, and it was ace. Right until the last minute I thought I wasn't going, then got a phone call from someone at work to say he wasn't going and I could have his tickets, what a great chap! He's the Kaiser Chiefs manager, so in return I will be encouraging everyone to buy the I Predict A Riot single which was out this week, let's send it to number one and buy him a speedboat. [leave a comment] - 2005 Primal Scream @ Leas Cliff Hall (Tue 6 Dec 2005)
One off show to introduce the new album, you lucky lucky people!
[leave a comment]- The Big Chris Barber Band vs Primal ScreamFolkestone was discussed in the office today (in that London), Chris Barber Band are Very Good as jazz goes apparently... But! Is this being bumped off by Primal Scream? That's what I've heard today. This is probably a good thing for Folkestone, Primal Scream are not what they once were, but it's still high profile and contemporary! tickets are on sale here, seems Folkestone is the ONLY date. What's that all about? Ah well see you there... -
- Primal Scream definitely coming to FolkestoneThey really are doing a one of show at the Leas Cliff Hall for some reason, nice one! -
- Primal Scream slight returnI was just about to buy some Primal Scream tickets here, but I think Ticketmaster are having a laugh with their delivery options. Not only is there a 3 pound per ticket booking fee, they want a fiver for postage (fair enough, it's special delivery) OR TWO POUND FIFTY IF I COLLECT THE TICKETS IN PERSON! I'm not even that bothered about the band, but feel I ought to go, as it feels like a bit of a treat for Folkestone. The gig being on I mean, not me considering going. If I have time this weeken -

Reginald D Hunter, George Egg, Neil Mooney and Danny James last show as compere :-(
[leave a comment]- Danny's not compering the Lone Star Comedy any more :-(DANNY JAMES makes his last appearance as resident compere at the Lone Star Comedy Club for the final show of the year on Saturday December 17th when the acts are REGINALD D. HUNTER, GEORGE EGG and NEIL MOONEY. DANNY JAMES offers an explosive mix of well-constructed comedy scenarios and utter daftness. Engaging and candid, loveable and self destructive, sharp and blunt – there’s something for everyone, deliciously wrapped in chocolate and served with prawns. He took his first one-man show to Ed -
- Lone Star Comedy Update - it's a double headerREGINALD D HUNTER (returning to the club after a revelatory headline performance last year, Reginald D. Hunter is the epitome of American cool, often described as the 'Samuel L. Jackson of stand-up'. - Weekend reportSuper weekend, starting with The Mighty Boosh at the LCH, funny, good, we felt a bit old though, they do attract a young audience, lots of whom were dressed up. I maybe enjoyed the show a bit more than my companions, though it did feel a bit like a cobbled together string of all the funny characters from the show. It felt like that because it was that, like the TV show and the radio show before it. A few drinks after this in The Clifton, and then home to our massive telly - sorry no pictures of -
