- 2010 Richard Herring @ Quarterhouse (Fri 29 Jan 2010)
Richard Herring's Hitler Moustache tour, ace, see you there!
[leave a comment]- Richard Herring's coming to the Cheesegrater@Herring1967 is great, and this is a Friday night, hope we can get a babysitter... So where do we drink before / after / during (if we have any time)? Are Bar Vasa still there? When they move out what will happen? We'll go to Wetherspoons I reckon. Busy today, kind of annoying too (the day is annoying, obviously I am not annoying). And all the snow has gone. Looking forward to being able to talk about this gig, I am embargoed until it is mentioned in The Sun tomorrow :-( -
- Richard Herring @herring1967 gig is THIS FRIDAY NIGHT!!!Got my tickets sorted and everything but I didn't realise it was so close, I hope Clare has asked her mum to sit in with Harry already... I thought it was weeks away yet. Blimey, going out, on a Friday night, I have forgotten how to do that! Missed out on Sean Lock tickets for the same venue unfortunately, I hesitated, and was lost. Tickets, concert tickets, gig tickets, more ticket info to go here Tickets, concert tickets, gig tickets, more ticket info to go here -
- Don't forget Richard Herring is in Folkestone this Friday nightWe'll be there, looking forward to it. Going out, on a Friday night, imagine! Hope we can find time for a drink before and after, but where, Wetherspoons maybe? -
- 2010 David Devant and his Spirit Wife @ The 100 Club (Thu 4 Feb 2010)
Plus support from Marcel. Unlikely to make this one :-(
[leave a comment]- David Devant play the 100 Club in FebruaryI'm unlikely to make this gig on Thursday 4th February I guess. Takes a lot of planning and notice to get us out of the flat at all, let alone to London. Maybe though, I will check with the wife! Clare's friend's band are the support, so that gives us double reason to try and go, but I am saving up all the favours and time off and so on for another forthcoming (secret) event. If you don't know / love David Devant and his Spirit Wife, you must be mental. Tickets GBP10 in advance from here. -
- Asylum DVDCustom DVD my arse, it's a DVDR of episodes that have been bittorrented or were videoed off Paramount Comedy at the time... Asylum aired on the Paramount Comedy Channel in 1996. The series stars Simon Pegg, Jessica Stephenson / Hynes (Spaced), Norman Lovett (Red Dwarf) and Julian Barratt (The Mighty Boosh). The show also features a different guest comedian in each episode including Bill Bailey (Black Books), David Walliams (Little Britain), John Moloney, Paul Tonkinson and Parsons & Naylor -
- David Devant at the 100 Club review to comeThat's the theory anyway, can't be bothered to write it up now which means I may never. It was GOOD though. Support from Marcel who seem to have expanded to a six piece now, and Lidl Richard who was a caberet one man rock'n'roll covers thing. Shame we had to run early but really really good to see them again. -

[leave a comment] - 2010 KISS @ Islington Academy (Tue 2 Mar 2010)
Warmup or press show or something. Sold out in seconds :-(
[leave a comment]- KISS ticketsKISS tickets for Islington Academy go on sale at midday today. Strange to do a warm up two months before the tour but I guess it's to generate some press interest. Fingers crossed for me! Tickets, concert tickets, gig tickets, more ticket info to go here UPDATE: Sold out instantly, I can stop clicking refresh and get on with some work now then. -
- KISS tickets sold out in secondsHere's someone who got some. I say tickets, seems there are no actual tickets, you have to turn up with the credit card you booked them on. So this person is willing to sell not only the opportunity to see KISS up close in the Islington Academy shopping centre venue, but also the credit card they booked them on (which they will then cancel). These touts are getting clever! -
- So long 6MusicNice bright spring day today, a smashing day to get official confirmation from the BBC that 6Music is to be shut down. Seriously, cull radio one if you want to save some money / not duplicate what EVERY OTHER RADIO STATION is doing. Where do I go now, what do I listen to again? Back to Radio 4 I suppose, though I was really enjoying actually listening to music again. Got the car with me today, but can't go home for my dinner as Clare has ladies-what-lunch round. I hope all the babies are behav -
- Yeah I didn't want to go anywayLove Gun live in Islington Academy last night: Seems the gig was cut short after only twelve soongs but it seems like quite a good little set to me. I like short gigs these days, I'd have had no trouble making the last train. Lots of details on the entirely impartial kissonline.com. Another restructuring at work, I hope it doesn't lead to more desk moves. Tickets, concert tickets, gig tickets, more ticket info to go here -
- 2010 Suede @ The 100 Club (Sat 20 Mar 2010)
Warmup for the teenage cancer trust gig.
[leave a comment]- Tickets for the Suede warmup gigs at the 100 Club and Manchester RitzFingers crossed at least Clare gets tickets for this, we couldn't both go anyway... DAMN I am so ungrateful I would rather be at this than at the Albert Hall gig that we already have tickets for... Just found out KISS are doing a warmup date in March too, so trying for that. It's at the Islington Academy, a non more corporate venue for a none more corporate band! Legendary Brit Pop band, Suede, have announced two intimate warm-up gigs in preparation for their much-heralded reunion concert for -

[leave a comment] - 2010 Editors @ Leas Cliff Hall (Tue 23 Mar 2010)
I'm going to this one, hope they play Killing Moon.
[leave a comment]- "Out of the way places like Folkestone"Editors play Folkestone on the 23rd March, tickets might be available from the box office, can't find them online right now. That'll be a good one! Clashmusic says "out of the way places like Folkestone", they also have the rest of the tour dates... Tickets, concert tickets, gig tickets, more ticket info to go here -
- Just been offered an Editors ticketAren't I too old for that sort of thing? Also it's the day before Suede, so not only will this be two gigs in the one year, they're on consecutive days! And both on a school night! -
- nme says the police were called to the editors gigRead it here. I was at the gig, I was not in the fight. Sorry I have not written my review yet (of the gig or the fight) been busy. Tickets, concert tickets, gig tickets, more ticket info to go here -
- My review of the fight! No, my review of The Editors at the Leas Cliff Hall. Already too much time has passed for me to do this justice, I can just about remember what I just ate for my lunch (pie, roast vegetables, peas, sweetcorn, lovely) and the gig was on Tuesday. Went with Dom and Dean, taking Jen's ticket because she's done herself a mischief. Did not go to the pub beforehand, as it's a school night and the plan is not to drink in the week. However, got in the venue and ordered lagers just for something to do rea -

- 2010 Suede @ Royal Albert Hall (Wed 24 Mar 2010)
Teenage Cancer Trust gig. The long awaited Suede Reunion, without Bernard Butler though unfortunately.
[leave a comment]- "Rumours are circulating that a Suede, sans Bernard, reunion and Albert Hall gig are about to be announced"Tickets, concert tickets, gig tickets, more ticket info to go here -
- Suede reuiniting for one night onlyThe Sun has it here. Venue to be announced shortly, it says here... Confirmed no Bernard Butler. ONE NIGHT ONLY??? I hope we get tickets! Will surely be a case of "as the one off one night only reunion went so well, Suede have announced a three hundred date tour.." though. Tickets, concert tickets, gig tickets, more ticket info to go here Lots more new officially released Brett Anderson doing Suede videos here on youtube. -
- Suede gig to be at the Royal Albert Hallthequietus reinforces the Albert Hall story. Who are thequietus though? Not seen that one before, all the contributors seem to be ex other music press, NME, Melody Maker etc. Also looks like it is / is going to be / was meant to be a real music paper or magazine. -
- Suede tickets on sale nowTicketmaster says Suede are playing in Boston in April. Is it a mistake? I heard on the radio this morning mention of people having Teenage Cancer Trust gig tickets already, can this be true? Harry woke in the night for the first time in aaaages, he has a cold. -
- Suede Albert Hall gig sold out in 20 minutes apparentlyHearing that maybe Bernard Butler WILL now be at the Suede gig, hopefully joining the "new" lineup to do a song! Things seem all amicable across all the ex-Suedes so he's likely to be present at the gig, can only hope he joins them on stage, as I don't think I saw them with Bernard. There was that one time, not at band camp but at Phoenix festival that I can't really remember. In case there is something amazing going on at the gig, then we can't risk having to leave before the end at this one -
- Suede at the Albert Hall ticketsSuede tickets. Pricey! I hear there may only be 100 standing tickets, and I think we have some. There were standing tickets on public sale, though long gone now. Tickets, concert tickets, gig tickets, more ticket info to go here -
- Still Suede tickets availableAll the cheap seats have gone but there are still special package tickets here, including tickets with dinner and so on. Expect to pay a lot extra for these, but at least they are still available... - Suede ticketsHigh prices for the suede tickets on ebay already... no sign of the warmup gig tickets yet. -
- Our Suede tickets are on the wayI shouldn't be tracking their progress like this, it's just a gig, but when you only go to one or two gigs a year I think it's OK. Timings are Doors (hoho, etc) 6.45 These New Puritans 7.45 Suede 9.00 Tickets, concert tickets, gig tickets, more ticket info to go here -
- I went out two nights in a row!Went to see Suede last night at the Royal Albert Hall, did I mention I was going? I think I did. Seven years since the last time we saw them, and it was great, a great set, all the band on form. Royal Albert Hall felt smaller than I remembered from my only other visit but that's the difference between sitting up the back (last time) and standing tickets (this time). I was driving, so not drinking, that was a fairly unique experience for me at a gig. Not one I hope to repeat any time soon really -
- The Living Dead / Brett Anderson / Suede / Royal Albert Hall / Teenager Cancer Trust gig Not the greatest version of the song I've ever heard I must say. Could have done with a bit of Bernard on it. My review. -
- Full audio of that Suede gig at the Royal Albert HallHere on the brettanderson.co.uk forum. A link from there anyway. Not great quality but not that bad either, gives you an idea. Looks like suedeonline.com is back, uh, online again too. [leave a comment]- Forgot we had family trying to fly right nowNot flapping their arms and running round the garden, but booked on a flight back from Ireland in the morning, which is now grounded. They've been told there are no flights because the volcanic ash is affecting radar, not the dust in the engines story everyone's saying here. [leave a comment]- Natural Wines at Karl's this ThursdayThis Thursday, we will be looking at Natural Wines, a movement that started approximately 10 to 15 years ago. The premise is simple - if the producer works so hard in the vineyard to produce grapes without any chemical intervention, then they should follow a similar purist course of action in the winery. Too many restaurant wine lists offer no alternative to the reams of highly manufactured wines while supermarkets will never stock a wine that they cannot absolutely guarantee. So, for somethi -

- In case there's anyone reading the blog but not the twitter...I think that's maybe just you Dom, and I will see you tomorrow before you read this, Ozzy Osbourne is coming to Folkestone and I got tickets. I am pleased about this. As I write there are still tickets available, which surprises me. It seems to be a warm up of sorts before his appearance at the itunes festival: # June 29, 2010: Folkestone, UK @ Leas Cliff Hall # July 01, 2010: Oxford, UK @ Academy # July 03, 2010: Camden, London @ Roundhouse Oxford tickets are on ebay already, but as I s -

- Don't let me forget I am going to Ozzy on TuesdayThere is a real danger of this coming around and me forgetting to go. Lovely day again today, this weather is insane. I will celebrate by hiding indoors while the rest of the company play human foosball in the sunshine. When did this game become "foos" here in England? It's probably Friends that is to blame, it's TABLE FOOTBALL damn it. Going to Maidstone tomorrow for a change instead of Canterbury. I'm concerned it will still be far too urban for a nice day, but needs must, Clare wants SHOE -
- Ozzy possibly has a DJ supporting him tonightThis from last.fm: Can't find anything about a support band anywhere, but apparently DJ Alexander Milas from Metal Hammer was the support for the Birmingham gig, and is also the support for the Oxford gig.... -
- Ozzy! Ozzy! Ozzy! We went OUT last night, on a school night, to the Leas Cliff Hall, to see OZZY OSBOURNE! The legendary prince of darkness comes to Folkestone for some reason that we still cannot quite fathom. It's some sort of warm up for ITunes Festival which is going on this weekend, but not quite sure why he picked us. Still, appreciated, and at a fulsome 35 quid a ticket not really doing us that much of a favour. Went for a cheeky beer in Chambers before the show, which was also smashing. We should go -

- So about last night Mr Fry...We went to Stephen Fry live last night, at Royal Festival Hall. Always feels quite a sophisticated and intellectual place to go and see something, and it was good. We had good seats (if a bit high up), in the box nearest to the stage on the left hand side. Nearest horizontally, but three storeys up, so we were looking down on him. Not many people can say that. He stood and he read from his book, he reminisced and bantered, he name dropped, and he did impressions (Hugh Laurie and Rowan Atkinson, -

- 2010 Free New Years Eve party @ Chambers (Fri 31 Dec 2010)
NYE is a free event for us this year! Having charged for events with mixed success I think its time to go back to the old 'open house policy' for Chambers on big celebration nights like NYE.
