- 2011 Richard Herring, Christ on a Bike: The Second Coming @ Leicester Square Theatre (Sat 8 Jan 2011)
We're going to this! Christmas treat.
[leave a comment]- Seasons greetingsJust back from a lovely long festive weekend at Mum and Dad's terrible run back taking five hours but I'll start at the beginning and focus on the good stuff! Great run down there on Friday taking only two and a half hours, including a stop. Straight to Kerry's house, where Dad and Nan were too, though Mum was still working at this stage. Mum got out of work a bit early, then we had a splendid tea of shepherds pie, then Clare and I headed to The Crown to meet some friends for our traditional 2 -
- Confusing new yearHappy new year everyone. With new years day being a Saturday, at what point am I supposed to say I am giving up drinking? We had a lovely evening last night, just the two of us eating, drinking and watching TV after Harry had gone to bed. Watched one of the new Marples, The Blue Geranium that was quite good, I sussed it RIGHT out though. Then Coach Trip that we had recorded on E4, I thought we had seen all the old series but found one that we did not recognise, maybe it's one we came in on the -
- Christ on a bikeOff to see Richard Herring this weekend, looking forward to it! Have just reaslied from what @Herring1967 is saying on the twitter that Stewart Lee is laso in the same venue at the same time. But not performing together. Here's what Leicester Square Theatre have to say about Richard's show Christ On A Bike: "Jesus was cool, it's just all the people who follow him who are such idiots. He's like the Fonz in that respect." Hitler Moustache star and avowed atheist resurrects and revamps his first a -
- BACK from Richard HerringBrilliant gig, funny and clever. Not only got my How Not To Grow Up book signed, but got Richard Herring to cross his girlfriend's name out of the dedication at the beginning and write mine instead. Win! This does notmean that I am now his girlfriend or anything funny like that. We dropped Harry off with granny mid afternoon and go tthe slow train up to London, as we were only going to the West End anyway. We headed straight for Pizza Express at Charing Cross] but were TURNED AWAY! The guy on -
- Richard Herring's brief mention of the show we were at hereHere on his blog on richardherring.com surprisingly enough. He hardly mentions the show, except to say that it was a good one. -

- 2011 Plant Fair @ White Cliffs (Sat 7 May 2011)
Sorry not to have listed this earlier, brilliant plant fair at Dover White Cliffs visitor centre Saturday and Sunday.
[leave a comment]- Plant Fair at Dover White CliffsClare is working the plant fair today, well counting the takings in the back room or something, so we took her in to work today and stopped for a look round. It's brilliant! I have bought some tumbling tomatoes, two different kinds of chillis and some strawberries. Strawberries are planted already in the stacking pot thing I got last weekend from mum, and two of the chillis are in new pots on the balcony. Going to try one of the other two chilli plants in the back garden, and one on the windowsi -

Suede are playing their first three albums back to back over three successive nights, ace! We're going to the first two...
Suport comes from Chapel Club.
[leave a comment]- I thought 10 O'Clock Live was greatGood, more serious than we expected and less shocking, but great, will watch again. Good work @laverneshow @realdmitchell @charltonbrooker and @jimmycarr. Seems like news about the Suede gigs at Brixton Academy is out, a gig for each of the first three albums. Hope we can go. We can sort most things so as to go to at least one of these shows (the first one for me, what a prefer their earlier stuff cliche I am) but it might be while the in-laws are on holiday which would throw a spanner in t -
- Just bought me 2 tickets for Suede at BrixtonGot 2 tix for the Suede gig and the Dog Man Star one, where they're playing the albums through. Result! There is a pre-sale link on the official site, though tickets are on sale officially on Friday. There's a three day season ticket available apparently, though they seem to be all gone now. It's a good way of saving the outrageous booking fees. I wonder if they give you a nice laminate or something with that? Probably not. Just spent GBP130 or so on tickets, not that clever in the week before p -
- A Suede holidaySo two nights at Suede, and the best part of two days in London surrounding it, what a rare treat! Clare left Harry with her mum and dad and came to meet me at work Thursday lunchtime. We left the car at work and started our adventure from Westenhanger station. Took an old slow train up to London as we were in no rush, and meandered across on foot to our hotel in Victoria, via parks, shops, and one pub. Or perhaps more Pimlico. It was the Best Western Victoria Palace something and was a bit crap -

[leave a comment] - 2011 Richard Herring @ Quarterhouse (Sat 21 May 2011)
Richard Herring is brilliant
[leave a comment]- Richard Herring is in Folkestone on SaturdayIt's the Christ on a Bike tour, very possibly the last day of it. We would normally go but we're at Suede the two preceding nights. Three nights out in a row would be madness. Amazingly this gig would be the sixth anniversary of the first time I saw a Richard Herring solo show, also in Folkestone, at Lanterns that time though. -
- 2011 Complete Vegetable Stew @ Royal Festival Hall (Fri 27 May 2011)
Part of Stewart Lee week at the Southbank Centre, sounds brilliant.
[leave a comment]- Stewart Lee's Austerity BingeThis looks ace, a kind of indoor festival curated by Stewart Lee but we unfortunately have two nights away from Harry the previous weekend so we can't do it, bah. If you can go have a good time for me. We are going to Wireless festival in July, just worked out that we can get a cheap hotel and it makes sense to so we're in there. - Email inbox cleared, Harry taken to nurseryWhat else can I achieve today? I tell you what would be good, it would be tracking down what's making a certain web request redirect to a port that we don't use, that would be good. It's all part of our move to the cloud I suspect it is some proxying we have going on. So what to do this weekend? We might go on the RHDR miniature railway, as Harry is quite into his train set at the moment. Fifteen quid return to Dungeness each for us though, lawks! Still it was pay day yesterday. Then Sunda -
- Wireless rockedPulp were ace, Grace Jones was surprisingly brilliant, lots to eat and drink over the weekend, lots of celeb spotting action (Chris Morriss among others) caught up with some friends and revisited old haunts. A really good time, more details later. Back now collecting Harry from Granny and Grandpa's, then we're off to the beach to make the most of the rest of our day off. -
- Wireless Weekend (the long version)Dropped Harry of with Granny Sunday morning and walked to the station. We were on the slow train, had a very helpful guard there who pointed out that we should have got ourselves a network card already, it would have paid for itself with that one journey, and if we can get a friendly Gold Card holder (Hi Dom) to buy one for us it'll only cost a pound. A slow run to London, but we had no great rush. Had a bit of a pootle round Covent Garden thinking about buying a new bag. We thought we might n -

- Lovely bank holiday weekendYesterday we went back to Tenterden for the day. Weather looked great on the way out, despite the bad forecast. As we got there it started booting it down with rain. We nearly headed home again, but just about braved it, and managed to mostly avoid getting wet for the rest of the day. Had a lovely lunch in Prezzo with some online vouchers, Harry's lunch was good and HUGE! Drove back the long way, the old roads which were bare and winding. Nice to drive, though Harry disargeed, he was sick, boo. -

So we started planning a bit of a crawl along the pubs of Albert Road and then discovered yesterday that Southsea Fest is on that day. - Southsea Fest was GOODDid not make the most of our wristbands, only went to the Wine vaults and then the Wedgewood Rooms and then for a curry, but we all had a great time. I can't wait to go out in Albert Road again. No time to report back with more info. Massive thanks to dad for buying us four new tyres that day! Had a puncture on the way down and took the opportunity to replace the balding tyres, and Dad stepped in and paid for the lot. Cheers! -
