We're going to the matinee of this one, was a christmas present, can't wait!
[leave a comment]- Merry ChristmasGot five minutes watching Harry play with his new stuff while I wait for Clare to get dressed, then we are skyping, then we are going out. I got Stewart Lee tickets and Homies and home brew stuff, very pleased. Clare got her handbag, was not really a surprise though. -
- The final countdown200 days to go, until my 40th birthday. Just been reminded by an olympics email (start of the olympics is on the same day). Nice. More importantly, only 18 days to go until BOOZE! We're not drinking for the whole of January, but, we're saying the end of January is the 28th. For one thing that is four weeks, which is actually a month (um if you don't count atht we didn't start this until Tuesday the 3rd of January), and for another that's the day we're going to see Stewart Lee. Comedy is much b -
- I love Stewart Lee and I have no interest in seeing The Iron LadyPerfect. Looking forward to Stewart Lee, twelve days to go. I am not counting down the days purely because that's my next drink, oh no. On that topic though, and old popex friend wrote this you might like it, I did. -
- The final countdownNot sure why my weekly chart that I'm getting from the http://last.fm api is not the same as the chart showing on my last.fm page right now (Smiths, Pixies, Cure, Suede, Beatles, Joy Division, Beach Boys, Eagles, Pulp, Blur) - must be because that chart is only updated once a week and this chart is a rolling seven days or something. Anyway, not really that interesting. Not as interesting as the fact that tomorrow is Stewart Lee day, which means a trip up to London and a trip to the pub for the f -
- Stewart Lee was very goodStewart Lee is always very good, this was no exception, it was great. I love his "this is not for you, please don't come again" stuff, seemingly trying to drive his audience away, and I the "jungle canyon rope bridge" material too. Good also to see Emma, we all went for a lovely dinner at Strada, and we went to a brilliant pub The Harp, CAMRA's national pub of the year. Great range of ales and ciders, I sampled quite a few. First time I'd been there I think, very handy for Charing Cross too, I -
- 2012 Reginald D Hunter @ Leas Cliff Hall (Fri 10 Feb 2012)

[leave a comment]- Wilde Flowers 1967I was a founder member of Wilde Flowers along with my brother Hugh Hopper, Robert Wyatt and Kevin Ayers and later included Dave & Richard Sinclair. We were based in Canterbury and were the originators of the 'Canterbury Sound' which later spawned two successful bands: Soft Machine and Caravan. As Wilde Flowers we played many gigs in the mmid-sixties in Kent and Sussex and London and at Tofts we had a regular slot and it was one of our favourite venues especially as we supported a lot of bi - Brian

- 2005 Goldie Lookin' Chain @ Leas Cliff Hall (Tue 22 Feb 2005)
CANCELLED!!! Do you remember howling them off the stage when they supported The Darkness last January? Well, they're BACK! You knows it. Update: oh no they're not, it's cancelled...
[leave a comment]- CANCELLEDLooks like Goldie Lookin' Chain have cancelled tonight at the Leas Cliff Hall, when did this happen? Is it apathy on the part of the punters, or is it (as I heard) that the band refused to play because of the reaction they got when they supported The Darkness just over a year ago..? The band have also cancelled their Irish shows, don't know if this is related... The Irish contingent at the Darkness show where the only ones being supportive of the 'Chain! Hmm, they've even wiped the scheduled -
