If it wasn't a Monday night, I might go to this, 11th June at Hammersmith Odeon, it's Motley Crue. In fact a Tuesday night wouldn't be good either, nor any day from Sunday back round to Friday again are out. If they move this gig to a Saturday, and it doesn't sell out and I can get downstairs tickets, then I would go. As one last request, if it could be moved to Folkestone, that would be fab.
Bizarrely I'm about to become a shareholder in Hammersmith Apollo, as a company I have shares in, from a long way back when I traded popex away has just bought it, and Kentish Town Forum too. How much sway do you think my shareholding gets me, in terms of getting the date moved?
Misty this morning, but it's going to be a hot hot hot weekend. Haven't done much this week except watch TV, but yesterday I made an experimental cassoulet that was good, and we watched It's Not Easy Being Green and caught up on House again. The green show has very annoying people on it, excitable and loaded new agers, hmm... Tonight we're off to Keppel's, mostly because there's a fancy dress murder mystery dinner going on in The Grand upstairs, and we want to see the standard of the dressing up. Then Saturday, out and about again including lunch in The Whole World Cafe on The Old High Street, hopefully. It opened last weekend, but each time we've been along they've been not quite officially open, fingers crossed for Saturday as it looks really nice.
Sunday, we're off to Twickenham, which will be ace also!
Weekends are good.

Unbelievably, we got into The Cure last night at Barfly Camden, and here is my review... This was the Music Passport charity show, a privileged audience of about 200 competition winners and successful ebay bidders, and then a handful of people like us.
The gig was amazingly not the most crowded Any of us had seen the Barfly, and if the rumours were right that the Libertines were doing a show their at the club afterwards, I'd expect it to be busier for them. This is obviously not down to the popularity of the band, but just how difficult it was to get into this gig, I know one person paid nearly 3 grand for a pair of tickets.
Anyway, spectacular 2 hour set, we tried to keep a track on everything they played but there was just so much. As one of the bands less patient fans, I was very pleased they did all the upbeat numbers that I imagined they wouldn't, including THREE, count 'em, off the first album, "Boys Don't Cry", "10:15 Saturday Night" and "Fire in Cairo". Also, they played "A Forest", I like to think they knew that was my favourite.
Instead of going off to allow for an encore, Robert asked for questions from the audience, the first was "are you playing Glastonbury?" and shockingly he said NO! Not sure if he was serious, I think he said something about Glastonbury not inviting them back but it wasn't clear. He said they are doing some festivals this summer, though he didn't say UK festivals.
The ending was odd, maybe fans who've seen them live more would have been expecting it, but they got some chums (Frank and Porl apparently, you're right, I have no idea at all, apologies to Cure fans everwhere. Except the ones below) up to do a couple of numbers with them "I Dig You" and "I'm a Cult Hero", a bit of light relief that I wasn't expecting. The final song ("Friday I'm In Love", I think, though a bit hazy from the heat by this point) was marred for me by the attention seeking antics of a couple of weird fans at the front, one pretended to faint, but she was just conscious enough to not let security move her out of the crowd, she clearly was expecting to be taken backstage or something... Calm down dear, it's just the Barfly! Speaking of sad groupie behaviour, we possibly could have headed to the Enterprise for after show drinks, but thought there's no way the evening could get better.
Ace gig, how can tonight's Pet Shop Boys show at the same venue compare? Thanks to the generosity of a different friend this time, I'm on the winners list again...
