The first rule of wine club

Dec32007
Recommended / related

Anyone in a wine club? Got any recommendations? Someone's sent me an introductory thing for Sunday Times Wine Club and I'm wondering whether to give it a go. I'm hoping it'll give us the chance to try some different wines, without having to leave the house, but I suspect the incredible fifty pound saving on our first case is much the same as the "normally 7.99 reduced to 3.99" that you see on every other bottle in the supermarket. Man, my cynicism pains even me sometimes.

RE: The first rule of wine club

I'm the same, as soon as I see a cut price bottle of wine I immediately assume they marked the price up the day before. But then I struggle with wine as price is no indication of taste - at least when you are buying a telly you can take some comfort in the price, you are more likely to get what you pay for.

I go with Virgin Wines for my cases, they seem to be ok. I'm not part of a plan as such, I just leap on the website when running low and they send out more.

I might give a couple of them a go, other friends have recommended the Sunday Times one and the Laithwaites one. You just KNOW that supermarkets do this mark it down to mark it up lark, at least the club will make me try some different types. If only it wasn't just before xmas when I have BUGGER ALL cash in my pocket. Next weekend we're off to Brussels, so will be loading up on some duty frees, will take a few chances there.

Over to you, discussion about anything local, but please be considerate... Folkestone on TV, Kent gigs, Find a flatmate, rent a room, property queries, current news, what's new, local events, for sale, local services, what I like about Folkestone, ask questions, offer advice, plug yourself... the more it's used the more useful a resource it will become. If you want a gig listed click here to add it (fixed now!), or just click here to post a message...
