The Fisherman's rest is rubbish and I won't be using that place again, decided to pop in for a drink last weekend (3rd May) with my wife and friends, only to be told very rudely by the Landlord to leave as it was a private function. The place looked open as usual, with no one stopping you from going in, he made you look as if you had just gate crashed the function. So to all who like a local pub with some atmosphere and friendly staff, avoid the Fisherman's as it's crap.
This is part of my site The 'Gerald that I built in a fury of enthusiasm when I first came to Folkestone in approximately '04. I'd been a regular visitor for a few years before that so I am technically one of those Down From Londons you get now. The site used to be a lot more dynamic with a gig calendar and voting for best venues and things, and I know it was a handy reference for those who were moving to the area. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though only a couple of miles) it doesn't get as much love as it used to. Ironic really as The town is now becoming the exciting place we knew it was just about to. I am not Gerald BTW, this comes from the name of a fake newspaper in an episode of Brasseye or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local newspaper here called the Folkestone Herald.
