Concerning TOFT`S I would like to give you the following information:
In 1969 the address was "35 to 39, Grace Hill"

A great honour for the club was the gig of
Eric Clapton with Derek and The Dominoes
on Saturday 15th August 1969
(Strictly limited number of Tickets 15/-)

Greetings from Hannover and
keep on rocking

Tofts club music bar venue closed tofts folkestone music history long john baldry geno washington ram jam band

I used to go to Tofts regularly during the 60s (when it was at Grace Hill). Used to be one of my favourite venues. (The other being the Epress Ballroom, a bit further down the hill on the other side)

Can't remember dates, but I saw Long John Baldry there, when he put his head through the low ceiling.

By far the best band performing there were Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band. They were great Tofts favourites

Good to have that info

Sure it wasn't 1970 though? this site says so, and the 15th was a Friday in 1969. Do you have any more info? Were you there?

Thanks for contributing.

I am sorry, maybe it was 1970. As a pupil I came to Folkestone several times and it`s obvious that I mixed it up (is that correct English?). On another leaflet of TOFT'S I found some more bands and infos

Danke schon!

I will add these other gigs to the Tofts history page. It's good to have a confirmed address for the venue, some actual listings are great - do you have any more leaflets / flyers from Tofts? It would be Wunderbar to get one scanned in...

Over to you, discussion about anything local, but please be considerate... Folkestone on TV, Kent gigs, Find a flatmate, rent a room, property queries, current news, what's new, local events, for sale, local services, what I like about Folkestone, ask questions, offer advice, plug yourself... the more it's used the more useful a resource it will become. If you want a gig listed click here to add it (fixed now!), or just click here to post a message...
