The Light Before Christmas (win a Wii)

The Light Before Christmas (win a Wii)

As the days get shorter and the evenings darker, the Light Before Christmas prepares to illuminate Folkestones Creative Quarter.

Saturday the 20th December will see an illuminated procession through the streets of Folkestone, down the Old High Street and into the Harbour Area for a lively arts market and Christmas songs. Illuminations, music, live window performances and displays will entertain you on this festive evening. Brought to you by Tonic - a creative business project held at the University Centre Folkestone and funded by the Kent and Medway Lifelong Learning Network. The objective of the project is to increase footfall into the Creative Quarter and help to promote the work of local artists.

This is part of my website The FG that I built in a fury of enthusiasm when I first came to Folkestone in approximately '04. I'd been a regular visitor for a few years before that so I am technically one of those Down From Londons you get now. The site used to be a lot more dynamic with a gig calendar and voting for best venues and things, and I know it was a handy reference for those who were moving here. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though only a couple of miles) it doesn't get as much attention as it used to. Ironic really as Folkestone itself is now becoming the exciting place we knew it was just about to. My name is not Gerald BTW, this comes from a fake paper in an episode of Brasseye or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local newspaper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are great aren't they? Do contact me if you have anything to offer, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on the twitter.
