The Three Mackerel is now for sale for £85k - why why why? - that is just for the leasehold business, not the property! Don't prospective buyers actually look at the books?
Season and (Cllr) Tim were a lovely, media-savvy couple, but couldn't make it go of it. Then came the Elvis-obsessed (wtf?) Nostalgia chap, followed by the forgettable tenant of the interestingly-named Euphoria. Literally dozens turned up on the opening night looking for Folkestone's latest gay venue, only to find a cheap re-hash of The Front, full of Folkestone yobs, most of whom had never met "a gay."
This brings us to The Three Mackerel. Just more of the same: doomed to fail. For God's sake, do us all a favour and turn this failure into apartments and DO NOT waste £85k on trying to take advantage of Godden and de Haan's pathetic future for the town. Neither the seafront, the "University," the new Asda-dominated shopping "centre," the sad creative area, or the re-juvenation of Tontine Street will ever make The Three Mackerel a success. Ask Cllr and Mrs Prater, and all the other broke tenants what they think.

I think the person that wrote those comments about the three mackerel pub, is a sad and pathetic loser who didnt know julie and wayne and how hard they worked in that pub, they were one of the best Landlord and Landlady ive known, they were very much liked by all.... I am appalled by the comments.

The original message you're replying to was just another anonymous post like your own, don't want anyone thinking it was official FG editorial or anything!

Does Folkestone really need any more apartments? I know it has lots of pubs and they're all empty, but that's because there are almost none that are worth going to.
I heard somewhere, perhaps on the councillor's own blog that he lived there, and that he'd lived there as a child (if I'm thinking of the right person) but I didn't know he was the landlord / tenant. Also, I didn't know that Euphoria was meant to be a gay bar, I usually avoid those pre-club type places. Haven't been in there at all since it's been the Three Mackeral I don't think, though I think we got as far as the front door in each of its last three or four incarnations and just thought "no thanks" and gone somewhere else.
We had a drink outside there once in the daytime when it was Euphoria, when the sun is shining it's a nice spot, but the last time I really liked it was when it was called The Front, though I don't think that survived long either did it?
Which previous landlord are you then? Or are you the landlord of a neighbouring rival tavern? They're all pretty ropey down there.

The "Euphoria" just sounded like a gay bar, when in fact it was just another rough Folkestone dive.
I'm not bitter about anything, just don't want people wasting their hopes and cash on this money pit.
Five changes of name in six years is never good. Perhaps Mr Ramsay can sort it out. Although I think even he would wash his hands of it.
Everything has been tried to make this place a success, but nothing has worked.
It attracts people who think the so-called rejuvenation of the town will help make there fortunes. But they're sadly deluded. Godden and de Haan are the only ones making any money here.
Some might say "bleeding the town dry" as was done to Margate.

He's spent money but is unlikely to have anything other than humungous losses so far I'd have thought.
Are you a homeowner in the area? I am, I'm hoping to make some money, damn this property slump, roll on the high speed rail link and the hordes of loaded evacuees!

They've reduced the price now to £47k.Must be desperate.
