Lake District 2009
Home
I'm back updating the blog again. Pictures to follow.
So, Harry's first holiday, we returned to Keswick in the Lake District, site of a previous successful holiday. This one was a qualified success too. Before we went we knew the weather would be rubbish but it was hard to guage just how important nice weather would be. There were eight of us travelling in total, Clare's mum and dad, Clare's brother Kevin, his wife Guiselle and their eleven month old Luke, who we had never seen. They all live in Miami, and the last time we visited was for the wedding, so lovely to meet Luke at last. He's a proper little smiler, and still too small to have an American accent yet so he's lovely.
For one reason and another I don't feel like doing a huge write up, in fact I'm even going to hold this one back for a week or so and generally try not to lark about frivolously in the meantime. Did you notice a difference now you are reading this? Was the internet quieter the past couple of weeks?
See the photos for updates of what we did, I will try to caption them all. We did have a good time and I would go back again. From the pictures you will see mostly the house we stayed in, as we were in it quite a lot because it rained a lot and we didn't go out to pubs and restaurants much because of the babies. Hopefully there are some nice scenic shots of the lakes too. Yes my new top looks a bit Star Trek, I think it's ace I got it from Arcteryx (well, in a shop in Ambleside) on the second day and wore it just about all the time from then on. From looking at that site seems I've not been wearing it correctly, ah well.
I said I would revisit my last report with more of an update of pubs and things, and I did not. Two years later I'm still not sure I have any more details. The Dog And Gun was OK, not as good as I remembered, I think it was changing ownership when we were there previously. The place we went to most often was not a pub at all but the fantastic Lakeland Peddler, I heartily recommend it if you're in the area. Even if you're not a vegetarian probably, Clare was keen to go back there again and again.

Over to you, discussion about anything local, but please be considerate... Folkestone on TV, Kent gigs, Find a flatmate, rent a room, property queries, current news, what's new, local events, for sale, local services, what I like about Folkestone, ask questions, offer advice, plug yourself... the more it's used the more useful a resource it will become. If you want a gig listed click here to add it (fixed now!), or just click here to post a message...
