James Clarke

Hello
I tried to send a message on your Hampshire web site but it came up "Page not available". Got your email address from the HTML source.
I was very interested about Clarkes in the Southampton area. I would really like to know what searching you have done, and whether you might be interested in mine.
I am Jean Falconer (nee Clarke), born in London, December 1932.
Have traced back to James Clarke (a gardener born in late 1700's) who married Elizabeth.
The remains of one of mine is buried in Portsmouth Cathedral before it became a Cathedral !
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards

Hi Jean,
Our James was born c 1777 in Widley (he was a cordwainer,a posh name for shoemaker, then he became a brewer Victualler) Hampshire, he married Elizabeth COLE (b 1794 Chichester West Sussex) they married in 1813 in Chichester. In the 1851 census they were running the King & Queen Inn Cosham High Street. Their children were Caroline, Mary Dash and James Cole.(There may be others that I have not found yet). The King & Queen was run by the Clarke's up until about 1910.There are three generations that bear the name of James Cole Clarke. I would be interested in your research. Please email me at baz at clarkeology dot com .

Over to you, discussion about anything local, but please be considerate... Folkestone on TV, Kent gigs, Find a flatmate, rent a room, property queries, current news, what's new, local events, for sale, local services, what I like about Folkestone, ask questions, offer advice, plug yourself... the more it's used the more useful a resource it will become. If you want a gig listed click here to add it (fixed now!), or just click here to post a message...
