Hi There,
My partner and I went to the Drum inn today for lunch as we love the pub and location.
We looked at the menu on the wall and asked about the soup of the day, which was tomato. I asked the barperson if the soup was freshly made, which she didn't know, she just said the chef makes it up, so I asked is it tinned and she replied no. So we both ordered the soup, i then ordered their Lambs Liver and Bacon and my partner had the Snapper.
When the soup came to us, it looked awful. We had a baguette which was cooked from froazen, then halved for us both. I started to taste the soup and immediately realised it was powdered soup as there were lumps congealed at the bottom of the bowl. I approached the barperson and she said she'll take it off the bill, so we waited another 30 minutes for our food to come through. We were not impressed at all with the soup as they were charging £4 each for this.
When our food arrived, my mash potato was transparent and very unappealing to look at, i wnt to cut into a peice of liver and blooc come out of it. My partenr's snapper was dried up and again looked awful.
I approached Landlord who did not seem very concerned and just said what's wrong with it in a tone that did not show any level of customer service. I informed him the liver had blood coming from it and he went over to look for himself, saw it and said nothing.
I paid for my two drinks and suggested he sack his chef otherwise he'll end up loosing a lot of money. his comment was he's just taken over the pub.
This is really sad as this pub is so nice and to have someone running it with this approachreally lets kent down.
I would never go back to this pub again even to drink.

Hello, I went onto this site because I was looking for an unbiased opinion about the Drum Inn. I was pleased to read your comments because I was about to book it for lunch today, but as you can imagine I have now changed my mind, why do so many pubs spoil themselves by trying to be something they are not. I have been in catering for 20 years and am constantly disappointed with so-called gastro pubs priding themselves on exquisite quisine when I'm sure the closest the Chefs has got to Chateau Briand is throwing a burger over in McDonalds. I'm not saying this is the case at the Drum as I have never dined there but powdered soup is a bit of a giveaway. I'd love to be proved wrong by this pub as it's in such a great location and as I have only just moved to the area was hoping to use it as my local, so if the Landlord wants a challenge close the restaurant and stage a grand re-opening and maybe the comments might just improve, thanks for reading, Julie.

hello Julie what the person who wrote that pack of lies above don't mention is is that they are in local copetion with The Drum and see them as a threat. The Drum is a Pub with a food outlet as most pubs are nowadays food qaulity is very high and prices are very reasonable. The biggest problem with all these type of web sites is there is no contril over what is put on them (true or false) and if you dont know the local pub why not walk in and make your own mind up for yourself.
Regards Mick

Not necessarily of The 'Gerald itself. I went to The Drum the other lunchtime and had a very nice pint. You're right though, it is "a pub with a food outlet", not a restaurant.

Over to you, discussion about anything local, but please be considerate... Folkestone on TV, Kent gigs, Find a flatmate, rent a room, property queries, current news, what's new, local events, for sale, local services, what I like about Folkestone, ask questions, offer advice, plug yourself... the more it's used the more useful a resource it will become. If you want a gig listed click here to add it (fixed now!), or just click here to post a message...
