BUY IT!

buy buy buy Cage Against The Machine amzn.to/eqQqwb. It's 49p, it's for charity, will hopefully knock some of the wind out of team xfactor's sails too, though I'm not sure it will stop whoever won that going to number one. Cage Against The Machine is a band aid style group of artists getting together to record John Cage's 4'33". It's not 4'33" of silence, it's the sound of an orchestra not playing for four minutes and 33 seconds - read all about it. So you get a bit of shuffling and coughing, and in this version a completely unneccessary whooping and cheering that they all managed to not make much noise during the piece.

Curious to see who plays it, it's anti-radio for a start, would they play it on top of the pops? Is there anything like top of the pops any more? I don't know. I look forward to seeing it on Jools Holland's hogmanay show, especially Jools himself EXPLODING with frustration at not being able to play plinky-plonk piano all over it.

It's for charity, so buy it, raising money for the following:

On a musical tip, bah, we should be going to this, Suede at Brixton Academy. Still, going to London on Saturday and looking forward to that. Uncle Bob's Wedding Reception, back at Highbury Garage!

Over to you, discussion about anything local, but please be considerate... Folkestone on TV, Kent gigs, Find a flatmate, rent a room, property queries, current news, what's new, local events, for sale, local services, what I like about Folkestone, ask questions, offer advice, plug yourself... the more it's used the more useful a resource it will become. If you want a gig listed click here to add it (fixed now!), or just click here to post a message...
