No, it wouldn't be broadcast and it most likely wouldn't be music

More on podcasting, from engadget.com... Hey I have all the necessary, including the knowledge I think, as soon as my PC is back on track (network card broken, did I say? A mate is generously fixing and upgrading at the same time) I'm having me some of this.

I'm still not up on what Poscasting actually is? At first I thought i was just broadcasting (through the FM transmitter) as a pirate badboy - but now I see it's something to do with (from Engadget) "an audio file, a MP3, most likely, in talk show format, along with a way to subscribe to the show and have it automatically delivered to your iPod when you plug in to iTunes."
Care to pad that out a bit?

Basically you make yourself a little mix tape (they're saying "in talk show format" as it's OK to redistribute recordings of yourself talking, but it's not OK to pass on recordings of other people's music) in MP3 format. Then you attach it to your blog in some way, and your many readers who subscribe to it will have some software running on their computer that will automatically download your little radio show and put it on their IPOD, probably overnight, so they get up in the morning and there are a load of new things to listen to.

Ah, so you can have you own DJ show - sounds like a good idea. Pauly's Top 40 would be broadcast every day to your nearest and dearest to enjoy on their way to work. I like the idea!

If I did it I would put together half an hour of non copyright infringing sounds (ie talking, farting) and leave them on my server, then all my fans would grab the file from there, using a programme like ipodder.

Over to you, discussion about anything local, but please be considerate... Folkestone on TV, Kent gigs, Find a flatmate, rent a room, property queries, current news, what's new, local events, for sale, local services, what I like about Folkestone, ask questions, offer advice, plug yourself... the more it's used the more useful a resource it will become. If you want a gig listed click here to add it (fixed now!), or just click here to post a message...
