I'm melting!

Can't get my desk into such a position where I can see the screen... I've given up on having a "decent" position in the office, back to a wall looking into the room, but right now I am TYPING BLIND! Or waiting for the sun to go behind a cloud. This new office SUCKS! No, it will be fine when it's finished, we need some blinds up and things. It's my fault asking to be near some natural light this time, I am by a big window and it's like a greenhouse, I am sizzling...

If you can't see your screen...

Make yourself a shade out of manila file folders. Basically a big hood over your monitor, then lean your head in. Side effect: your boss will actually notice that you're having a real problem, not just whining, and that you're doing something about it.

Nice one!

Instead we've taken the old broken blinds and screwed them to the window frame - they can't be raised or lowered, and the room's in darkness now, but it's made the point and is a good temporary fix... thanks for the advice though.

why dont u

cut through hatton garden and go to holborn circus...only 5 mins walk and there's cahspoints to choose from!

also, i have now moved. irritatingly, my local exchange does not (currently) support the Bulldog 4mbps service :o( ...very irritating. am trying to find someone that does a 512kbps service only a month to month basis. am currently on dial-up and am losing the will to live!

Ta, I will go look there

the other option is to get organised and bring cash with me... I have a fiver today, I think, that's enough for lunch if I don't get any coffees in... a soya cappuccino is nearly 2 quid in Starbucks, can't be doing that three or four times a day really...

have you investigated

all the shops on the other side of farringdon station to you? up that road there's tons of trendy little shops which might do vegan food - although ive never looked out specifically for one...but i wouldnt be surprised!

I've been to the Pret over that side

And been to a couple of pubs round there... just had a wonder round here, lunch today from Antimony (vegan pate sandwhiches, a carrot and onion burger thing, and a fruit salad), and coffee from the tiny and slightly grimy cafe. Passable, half the price of Starbucks, but still more and not quite as good as Troika in dearly deserted Regents Park Road.

Antimony

New agey and posh, but they have a good choice of vegan foodstuffs, so it's good for a quick lunch.

Over to you, discussion about anything local, but please be considerate... Folkestone on TV, Kent gigs, Find a flatmate, rent a room, property queries, current news, what's new, local events, for sale, local services, what I like about Folkestone, ask questions, offer advice, plug yourself... the more it's used the more useful a resource it will become. If you want a gig listed click here to add it (fixed now!), or just click here to post a message...
