Warner Village Islington

Going to the cinema tonight to see Pirates of the Caribbean, to the Warner cinema (Parkfield Street, London, N1 0PS, Telephone 0870 240 6020). That's the cinema in what was the new new new Marquee club. Which is now shut down, bit of an ambitious project and no luck in booking good acts there and CRIKEY SPIKEY were the drinks expensive there and they didn't do pints. Was probably a mistake to reuse the name when the new venue was so posh. Anyway have just found out that we might be able to go to the reopening of this venue, it's been bought by the Academy chain, and it looks like Athlete are going to be doing the launch do. Hopefully there will be a free bar and a good support act, as they're quite dull.

Have included search terms in the side bar of my pages now, and in their own section, using a script I got from popdex which I've modified to cover different search engines (including the one on this site) too.

RE: Keira Knightly Wallpaper

Sparrow can slide down the rope with both hands bound together even though both ends are fixed as you reason, because he is able to pass the rope through his wrist joints as one of the cursed...since this scene is before the revelation in the cave when moonlight reveals the fact that he is one of them. I you watch carefully, frame by frame you will see this happen and also see that Sparrow's face reacts to effort and mechanical discomfort of the action prior to the death slide.

Pirates of the Caribbean is ace

Well worth going to see, and Warner Village Islington was a great place to see it. Apart from the bloke sat next to me, who stank. Seats were big, plenty of space, very comfortable.

Johnny Depp is great as Captain Jack Sparrow, he apparently based his character on Keith Richards and he plays the part with a spectacular swagger. Keira Knightly is a bit annoying as the kidnapped English rose type, and I'm not so keen on the zombie aspect to the film, but it's a really enjoyable film. Good to see a nod in there to my favourite film The Crimson Pirate too.

Nephew J had his own pirate fun for his 3rd birthday today, a visit to Pirate Pete's, some sort of kids play centre, I'm going there next time I'm down in Hampshire.

It's rained today, cooled things down a bit, we got home nice and quick on the 476 though. Now homemade spicy lentil soup with sausages, the first step on a week of "soup only diet". Is it really only soup if it's got a pound of sausages in it? Nevermind, we will eat it and watch Jonathon Creek, who could ask for a better evening?

Tomorrow: remember the Suede tickets and try to choose between Reading Festival and Canterbury Fayre...

Stoke Newington Cinema

While I'm in this thread I should give a mention to the Rio Cinema, 103-107 Kingsland High Street, London E8 2PB (Telephone 020 7241 9410).

It's the nearest cinema to stokey, but it wasn't showing the mighty mighty Pirates of the Carribean...

Pirates of the Caribbean MISSTEAKS (and spoilers)

Recommended / related

I thought of a few of things about the film - if "Bootstrap" Bill Turner was tied to an anchor and thrown into the depths after they'd stolen the cursed gold, then right up to the point where Will (Orlando Bloom) bleeds over the gold, his dad is out there somewhere, still in a zombie state at the bottom of the sea... how long had the pirates been at sea trying to track down the gold? At least since the flashback / dream at the beginning, where [Orlando Bloom | Orlando]] and Keira looked about 11. So, say they're 21 now, surely the zombie Bill Turner could have made his way out of the water in that time?

ALSO, the little nod to the Crimson Pirate mentioned above is where they tip the rowing boat over and walk along the bottom of the sea in it. How is it they can walk along the bottom of the sea, in either film? The boat is still displacing as much water if it has air under it, so why doesn't it float? Also HOW CAN THEY TURN INTO SKELLINGTONS AND BACK INTO MEN AGAIN??? I know I am reading too much into a fantasy film, but I have been curious if the boat tips over / traps air / men travel under the water breathing the trapped air since I first saw it...

One more thing that I could explain properly to Clare, how did Jack Sparrow slide down the "death slide" type rope when his hands were tied together? If one hand was undone, he could throw the chain over the rope and grab it with the other hand, but as we see him trying to break free after he's slid down, it looks like he was still sealed up, so assuming the rope is securely fixed at the top and the bottom rope would involve joining two unbroken loops together.

If he had enough chain he could double it over, that would work. ZZZZZ I'm boring myself now... There IS a website dedicated to this will go see if they had the same questions... Oh. They did.

RE: Pirates of the Caribbean MISSTEAKS (and spoilers)

1) they turn into skellitons when they are in the moonlight, and are actually not breathing air, so there isnt any in their lungs.

2) jack folded the chain in two, then grabbed the other (folded) end with one hand. if you watch it closely you'll see.
