Vegetarian and vegan cuisine isn't just for protesters anymore

Jan232005

So says sanfrancisco.com... we've picked our honeymoon now, and it will involve a stop in San Fran, so this restaurant sounds good!

San Francisco's Millennium, located in the Savoy Hotel, features a completely animal-free menu and serves artfully presented and deliciously gourmet vegetarian cuisine that spans the culinary gamut from Black Bean Feijoada to Carrot Lasagnette in an classy dining room open to dressing up or down. Wild mushrooms and chickpeas are common, saffrons and chutneys spice up veggie concoctions and the dessert menu includes dairy-free delights such as Vanilla Cinnamon Sorbet and Bananas Flambe. Millennium also takes eco-friendliness to a new level with a selection of organic wines.

Hope nothing goes wrong with trying to book it, though now we've decided to bite the bullet and learn to drive again, we have a lot more options... Full weekend write up on the way, just saving this while I remember it...

you wanna avoid italy then

giday
just returned from our xmas vacation in europe
whic involved a stay in italy, and a long search for any quisine other than pasta and bloddy pizza which
we tired of after 2 days
gawd knows how the locals manage to consume all those carbs and stay fabulos-darlink
we rekon its because they chain smoke their way through most of the meals
anyway avoid rome, florance was okey, they had a "mr. kebab" and another posh restaraunt that had "other food!"
if you are searching for the magic "v" symobols menus's you will be looking very hard

Food & Smoking in Italy

I am afraid those tourists who only find Pasta or Pizza in Italy are walking into the easy establishments, their version of Mcdonalds (although they have Big Macs too). Italians only eat Pasta as a first course and there are so many other dishes of great taste,Britain is just a Fish and Chip eating country in comparison. Smoking is banned in public, unless there is a special room on it's own are smokers permitted.

"Florence was OK, they had a Mr Kebab"

Does anyone realise you're not an Australian?

They thought we were americans actually, which I was most offended by.
considering I will be having a burns night supper tonight I would have thought it would be hard to mistake me for anything else

We found the fabbest Indian in SF, loads of veggie options, I thought I had died and gone to heaven, we even got a free bottle of wine by reading one of the food guides in our hotel and stealing the advert. So where else do you fancy then? (for your honeymoon that is....)

Sounds like SF is going to be great for eating

We've decided on a tour of San Francisco, LA, Monterrey and (I think) Santa Barbara. Should be ace! Booking it on pay day next week.

Over to you, discussion about anything local, but please be considerate... Folkestone on TV, Kent gigs, Find a flatmate, rent a room, property queries, current news, what's new, local events, for sale, local services, what I like about Folkestone, ask questions, offer advice, plug yourself... the more it's used the more useful a resource it will become. If you want a gig listed click here to add it (fixed now!), or just click here to post a message...
