i am thinking of moving to folkestone and am unsure of where to live. I am looking to move from manchester where for 200-250k you cant get much more than a 3 bedroom house. I am thinking in folkestone having looked on the web there is a possibility of a 5/6 bedroom house for the same money. iam unsure of which areas to look in either sandgate road (west end?) or up on the hill near the pavillion (east end?) can anyone give me any advice. I would also be interested to know if anyone has any information on proposed 50m injection of cash for redevelopment of folkestone or how much property is expected to rise when the high speed rail link is finished??

As below, your money will go further over the East Side than the West End I think. How much space do you need? For the price of a two bed flat on the sea front you could get a six bed house elsewhere, but I don't know which one would appreciate in value the most.

Folkestone is seriously underpriced at present and £250k will go a long way down here. The west end is the posher bit but a 4/5 bedder with a sea view here come at a premium. East cliff has some nice places though again if you want to look out at the French coast you'll struggle to find anyhing under £350k - still huge value for money - omg - I sound like an agent!
Your second question is something we'd all like to know but the pundits are saying prices are expected to rocket in the next 5 years? Best come and have a look. Good luck

You could easily spend 250k round here, but if you were thinking of a nice sea view that's more the price of a (quite fancy) 2 bedroom flat on the sea front.
Apparently 3 or 4 years ago you could get a big old house near the station for that sort of money, but they're more like 450k.
As Mick says, best come down and have a look.

I would say somewhere between the station and the town would be a good bet, have a look at the property map to see what streets that is.
There's a high speed rail link coming in the next few years that will make Folkestone a feasible commuter town for London, and you're by the sea too!
Most of the investment is going to be on the coast, a new marina is being built down by the harbour.
Have a google for the Creative Foundation's works too and post back with what you find.

Over to you, discussion about anything local, but please be considerate... Folkestone on TV, Kent gigs, Find a flatmate, rent a room, property queries, current news, what's new, local events, for sale, local services, what I like about Folkestone, ask questions, offer advice, plug yourself... the more it's used the more useful a resource it will become. If you want a gig listed click here to add it (fixed now!), or just click here to post a message...
