So are we going to Glastonbury or what?

I suspect not this year, as we have a lot on in June anyway, but if we were we'd have to register in advance... Weird. Will it beat the touts? I doubt it, unless all the artists' guests have to register in the same way, just as far in advance.

Who will the headliners be too? I heard via the medium of www.popbitch.com that it would be Arctic Monkeys, Bjork and "the biggest band in the world that are not U2 or Coldplay"... now this is clearly part of the regular rumour bullshit, even if it did originally come from anyone connected with the festival, like Michael Eavis himself (and I don't know where the quote came from, and I might have got U2 wrong, it might have been REM). For a start, it supposes that Coldplay are one of the three biggest bands in the world. I suspect it's just the start of the annual rumour that this year, the Rolling Stones will play. And they won't. I bet it's someone like Muse headlining.

More frivolous festival excitement from the official registration page, which you have to provide a photo for:

What kind of photos are acceptable?

* Head and shoulders photo, must be recent, clear, in sharp focus, with your entire face visible
* Please ensure you have a neutral expression with your mouth closed and eyes open, looking directly at the camera
* Please do not wear hats or anything that covers your face and be free of glare from glasses etc
* Must be taken against a plain and light background
* Please ensure your photo is correct, as you will not be able to modify it once registered
* Image file must be less than 400kb in size and in JPEG format.
* Your image will be resized to the correct dimensions automatically, however you must crop it yourself.
* Any applications that do not include a suitable photo will not be accepted

Some of that sounds like good advice for the festival itself - no stupid hats, eyes forward, no smiling, conform, consume, etc. Glastonbury's changed a lot, even since I first went.

BUSY with this new job, really enjoying it, a great place to work. More to report, maybe at the weekend.

UPDATE: efestivals has it that it's The Who.

No Credit Cards for Glastonbury 2004

Pictures

As you know go on sale at 8pm on the 1st of April 2004, they'll cost £112 plus this year, plus booking fee, plus postage... Also there are plans afoot for the tickets to be non transferrable, each one will be linked to the purchaser in some way and then checked on the gate.

What you maybe didn't know is that you can't buy them with a credit card! You can still use a debit card, so for a lot of peopel this isn't an issue, but for those hoping to borrow the money from Visa or Mastercard, you're out of luck... cheques and postal orders will still be accepted, but I'm not sure how that'll work over the phone.

This has been introduced as a security measure apparently, and to discourage touts who'd buy on a credit card, then ebay them before the bill comes in... it should also mean a lower booking fee than normal, but it's not clear who this saving is passed on to.

Call 0870 830 2004. But not yet. Read Michael Eavis' full statement at www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/news/+glastonbury2004t/
