Thursday: Day of disappointments

Apr15
Recommended / related

Three pains in the arse yesterday. Firstly Sky came round to install , and then went away again saying they can't do it as they don't think we own the wall where they need to put the dish. SO, got a letter from the chair of the freeholding company to say it's cool, and they will have to come back. ALSO heard back from the company we were going to order the from, and although they charged for delivery and then again for installation, they say they will leave the table on the ground floor. Our flat's on the second floor, not sure the people downstairs would appreciate it. So, today we're ordering the pool table from Kingswood Leisure. It's going to be 255Kg, so finding someone to install it in our second floor flat has bumped the price up, but it's still less than I thought they'd be when I first started looking...

Was expecting 3 disappointments out of 3, as our carpet was being fitted. Will they have laid the wrong carpet? In the wrong room? The wrong way up? On the walls? No David J Payne saw us alright, we're complying with our lease at last!

Been reading a rubbish book too "Robinson Crusoe" by good old boy . Were there no spell-checkers in the 17th century? Haven't enjoyed it much, so have given it up. On to ' The Moonstone now, which is very good, reads like a so far... Also very good, got given the promo for Red, White and CRUE today, it's another greatest hits from Motley Crue, ACE!

Hmm, still slightly TORN between pool table colours, will fake beech look more rubbish than fake mahogany? The most rubbish look would be a squished downstairs neighbour through a pool table shaped whole in our floor, I hope the flat can cope with the weight. It's only like four people my size doing a conga, if the floor can't cope with that then I can't be expected to take responsibility...

OX04 Festival

Oct24

Pictures

It's a charity festival in Manchester... have a good weekend all, I'm off now!

Just received word of this festival in Manchester, in aid of Oxfam, contact details for more info at the bottom of this message...

Following the success of this year's OX03 festival, (an eight day event
in
Manchester City Centre to highlight and raise funds for Oxfam's
overseas
work), we are planning an even bigger and more prestigious event for
2004.
We are approaching artists and their agents for dates around the end of
March and beginning of April.

We are asking artists to perform at various venues across Manchester.
All
money raised from these events will be placed in a fund to help with
Oxfam's
vital overseas work. Due to the fundraising nature of these events we
are
asking artists to play for free, but we will reimburse any expenses and
provide a reasonable rider for any artists donating their time and
talents.

The array of events we are planning range from, local 'indie' bands,
well
known headline bands, singer songwriters, local and national club DJ's,
Poets, Comedians, Authors and any performers who can use their skills
to
help Oxfam. Last year attracted over 75 artists including Adrian
Luvdup,
Aiden Smith, Luke Bainbridge, Chloe Poems, Andy Woods, Archie Kelly and
Justin Moorhouse.

We will also be producing a mini 'festival' guide to promote the event
featuring biogs. of all the artists playing, which will also contain
contact
numbers for people wishing to book or find out more about the artists.
Also
planned is a CD featuring a selection of the musical acts featured in
the
festival. We also plan to have national and local publicity to
advertise
the festival. This year's festival attracted press interest and
articles
from City Life, Manchester Evening News, Metro News, Alive Listings
Guide,
manchestermusic.co.uk and the Guardian.

We hope to make next year's event an even bigger success than this year
but
can only do so with the help and good will of The UK entertainment
scene.
So please get involved.

I keep losing track of these details, so posting them up here... they've fitted one carpet for us and are going to do another, they were very helpful and cheaper than any of the out of town outfits.
