New album imminent and GRATE!
RAH, got the new Beta Band album (Hot Shots 2), big up to Mike @ Infected for the smashing parcel of stuff that arrived today...
The album's out on July 16th, though the first single from it "Broke" is out next week.
The opening track on the album, "Squares", was due to be the first single, but as it has the same main sample as the current I Mobster single "Daydream In Blue", it's been withdrawn. Unsurprisingly enough, they sound almost identical, such is the power of enormous samples...
Is that really a picture of the Beta Band on the Beta Band profile page? It looks like David Gedge to me, have I messed up>

Beta Band withdraw single...
The planned first single from the Beta Band's new album "Hot Shots II" has been withdrawn because of a "strange coincidence"...
Squares was due to be the first release, two weeks before the album, on July 2nd. It turns out that a track by another artist (I Mobster), due to be released that day uses the same main sample, which has pissed on the Beta Band's parade slightly.
Neither party were aware when
recording that the other was working with the same material. Beta Band have not confirmed an alternate single yet, but the tracklisting of the album - "Hot Shots II" is as follows:

06. Broke
07. Quiet
08. Alleged
09. Life
10. Eclipse
Beta Band are supporting the mighty Radiohead on their North American tour this summer.

THEY ROCKED!
AYWKUBTTOD were the very embodiment of visceral intensity yesterday at the Monarch... If you've not seen them, their style of music ranges from
all the way to
covering all the squares in between. Supported last night by wig-out merchants and new popEx addees "The Heads", and playing to a heaving and charged crowd they rocked in every way imaginable.
The best gig, ever. Ever.
