Guessing folkestonegerald is difficult to use...
we are getting off a ship in Dover at 5:30 am we catch the Chunnel to Paris at 10:35. Can we make it. How do we make it. Is there a train. Is there a fast train,
Guess that means this site is confusing to use. Odd sort of journey though, can you not go from Ashford to Paris? I thought they'd been reinstated. Anyway, yes there is a train that will do this, kind of, see nationalrail.co.uk for that info. If it's today, well I'm too late for you. If it's tomorrow, you will still have trouble as there's a tube strike on so not sure of the best way from Charing Cross (where the London bound train probably terminates) to Kings Cross St Pancras.
There will be a new high speed rail link straight to St Pancras, starting later this year.

That sounds a bit quicker than I'd heard before, but so says propertyinvesting.net... it also adds:
Folkestone is a nice town generally no really bad areas. Down by the harbour its got "further to go" than other parts of the town. Much of Folkestone is large elegant Victoriana three story terraces many in leafy avenues. Any property with sea-views will command a premium in future years... Close to the town centre is a plus if you rent your property. There is no University*, but there is a town centre International Language College that needs student accommodation. Price are rising fast from last October, so get in quick before it's too late!
What a nice report!
*and surely there will be a uni of some description soon enough!

According to this Article in The Times...
The three additional platforms to the east are reserved for new fast trains from east Kent which will use the new Channel Tunnel Rail Link line and cut commuter train times by up to two thirds...
Fingers cross that our bit's open then too, thinking more and more about commuting in. If the three grand plus for the travelcard out to that zone isn't frightening enough, the current long commute is.
I don't think Folkestone did that well this Christmas - the Christmas quiz at Chambers was fabulous, but why did the New Years Eve bash not sell enough tickets? Got to buy tickets in advance everyone, we did, but we were not enough... also event organisers, got to get your promotion properly out there, and out there a bit in advance too. We saw almost no advertising for the event, and what we did was a bit small scale. www.thegigguide.info is still being advertised within Chambers, but it had no info about what was going on over xmas. Get it together everyone!
We ended up at La Vue, and it was disappointing. Not my bag at all in terms of music (though we knew that in advance), and too quiet. IMHO not worth the 15 quid admission.
