Finally got my remaining wedding chore out of the way, bought some BOOZE online, hope that works out OK... Also got one of Clare's christmas presents, not for next year, from last year which I had trouble getting and then kept forgetting. Anyway now LOTR Risk is ours.
In other Amazon news we've been slipping behind in our DVD watching, what with spending TOO much time commuting. Got a bundle lined up at home including more Angel (ooh series four's a bit dark) and Detroit Rock City, which I've never seen. At least the soundtrack's got to be good if the film's not.
While the Folkestone commute has eaten into our TV time, it's not had the impact I thought on my reading - I'm spending more time just gazing out of the window at the delightful Kent countryside. I SWEAR I saw llamas one day, but haven't been able to find them again since. Maybe they were just sheep that were craning to see over a hedge? Still plodding through The Moonstone, and I have a bundle more queued up...
Ma and Pa visiting for the weekend, what little jobs can I get them to do?

Three pains in the arse yesterday. Firstly Sky came round to install Sky+, and then went away again saying they can't do it as they don't think we own the wall where they need to put the dish. SO, got a letter from the chair of the freeholding company to say it's cool, and they will have to come back. ALSO heard back from the company we were going to order the pool table from, and although they charged for delivery and then again for installation, they say they will leave the table on the ground floor. Our flat's on the second floor, not sure the people downstairs would appreciate it. So, today we're ordering the pool table from Kingswood Leisure. It's going to be 255Kg, so finding someone to install it in our second floor flat has bumped the price up, but it's still less than I thought they'd be when I first started looking...
Was expecting 3 disappointments out of 3, as our carpet was being fitted. Will they have laid the wrong carpet? In the wrong room? The wrong way up? On the walls? No David J Payne saw us alright, we're complying with our lease at last!
Been reading a rubbish book too "Robinson Crusoe" by good old Stokey boy Daniel Defoe. Were there no spell-checkers in the 17th century? Haven't enjoyed it much, so have given it up. On to Wilkie Collins' The Moonstone now, which is very good, reads like a Sherlock Holmes so far... Also very good, got given the promo for Red, White and CRUE today, it's another greatest hits from Motley Crue, ACE!
Hmm, still slightly TORN between pool table colours, will fake beech look more rubbish than fake mahogany? The most rubbish look would be a squished downstairs neighbour through a pool table shaped whole in our floor, I hope the flat can cope with the weight. It's only like four people my size doing a conga, if the floor can't cope with that then I can't be expected to take responsibility...

Just finished Underground London, and enjoyed it very much... Haven't reported in what I've been reading since I griped about The Moonstone I don't think, I really dragged through that one but enjoyed it by the end. Hmm, I'm a great reviewer of books. Underground London is a Louis Theroux style stalk through the lives of people who work or play underground in London. Not sure why I got this book, as I remember it looked at my Amazon basket one day and there it was, maybe I was drunk. It covers all of London history from Roman times to the current cross rail project and adventures with the Subterranea Brittanica lot, and it is a jolly interesting non-fiction read. Before that I think I read a Cadfael book, One Corpse Too Many, which took a while to get into, but once I'd got into his style I enjoyed too. It's not overly twisty and turny or gripping, there are huge blaring signs saying "this is what's going to happen next", it's a Sunday Evening TV kind of a book, but not bad. It was a car boot sale bargain, and I might look out for more. Also from the same boot fair I got Bill Bryson Down Under, looks good but I have to wait for Clare to finish it. Next in line for me is Dublin, which I'm a bit intimdated by. I enjoyed London by the same author, but I know more about the history of London. It's a big slab of a book and if it follows the same formula it will be a dramatised history of the city, following a family from Roman times up to the present day.
That's the only good thing about our daily commute, catching up with reading. Today's journey in was rubbish, had some idiot couple sat on our table chattering all the way in. If it was you, please don't sit near me again. Really, some time soon, I will make some "quiet carriage" signs.
Off to Oxford this weekend, so checking out www.oxfordtube.com, supposedly a luxury coach service between London and Oxford. A lot cheaper than the train will be at rush hour I'd think, and though it takes a bit longer it's not a problem as we're leaving early and have plenty of time.
Full On Food is back on TV tonight, SMART. They seem to have changed the presenters since the first series, hope it's as good.
