Another strike, and a record breaking Eurostar trip

Hey London tube travellers, Here's a song for you. Only listen to it if you like lots and lots of swearing, and weak b3ta style graphics over a tune you've heard before mind. I'm not really that arsed about the tube strike today as, HEY, I'm well out of , but a good friend pointed out that striking over things including pensions these days only draws attention to the fact that you HAVE a pension, not so many people do these days. I just started a contributary one six months ago, far too late for it to be paying me out any significant amount of money ever. I'm going to have to rely on keeping my livers in good condition and selling one of them when the time comes.

In other transport news, COOL, Eurostar smashes a speed record, yes on the English side of the tracks. We will not actually ever be travelling by from to London, and in face things could start to get a bit less convenient down this way if they're really going to scrap services from to , but faster tracks between here and London are part of the plan to reduce our commuting time. One BR employee told the wife this week it would be thirty something minutes from to . A mistake on his part, almost certainly, but if it goes down to an hour, that's nice.

I say "our" commuting times, I don't actually mean mine, obviously.

Hey I still haven't written up our trip to yet.

Trains, tubes, and flats.

Turd of a journey in this morning, the is out completely, which meant the train in was rammed, then was closed for overcrowding as also the was out... also because the is now "fixed" the journey up to is slower as trains are going on the other branch now too... whinge whinge whinge. An hour and a quarter in today, with lots of changes and waiting around, the commute in is looking more feasible daily.

Still getting the property update emails, should forward them on to another chum who's looking in the area... can't remember if we saw this place while we were looking at properties, two beds on what looks like for 130k, not sure we did as this is the one that has it's own garage, and one we did see that looked like that had two bathrooms... ANYWAY, got to stop looking at properties now, the flat is all going through, deposit paid yesterday and everything, could be completing any day now... the vendor is keen to complete friday, it just depends if the "deed of variation" can be made or not... the freeholder (who is actually a company directed by all the other leaseholders) is OK with the clauses saying "no TV after 11pm" and "floors must be carpetted" being removed from the lease document... perhaps I should have asked for "ground rent to be paid promptly" to be dropped too?

Also new, there's a 3 bedroom house, same price as our flat but doesn't look as nice, 2 bed flat in Sandgate for 125k (handy for ), and this flat for 125k, it's the first flat I went to see in , still on the market... nice place, could be an offer-tastic bargain in there for someone... Cheapest on this list is a 2 bed town centre flat for 95k.
