As featured on Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, no, wait, come back!
Had a meal at Sandgate Hotel last night with two friends. The service was slow though the staff were very pleasant and chatty. My friends both enjoyed their main courses - though they arrived an hour after we arrived! My meal however was a real disappointment. The saute potatoes and courgettes were beautiful but as the menu stated that all our food is freshly prepared I was rather surprised to find the centre of my vegetable and dolcelatte tart was still frozen! The waitress took the price of the bill but I had to come home and raid the fridge as I was obviously still hungry! Wine good and venue stunning but a real shame about the food.

Folkestone Herald | The Herald reports that it's been sold again, they're guessing for 900k this time, wonder if the new owners will be able to make a go of it. I hope so, it's a nice place. It's not Gordon Ramsay who's bought it, hope the new owners don't have another kitchen nightmare.

My wife and a pal had lunch at the Sandgate last week it was fantastic! We all had the lobster salad, although not exactly cheap (26) massive whole lobsters, great high quality salad and very good service. If it is a nice day I would say deffinitely book to sit outside.
You'd not have known they went to Folkestone harbour, but Sandgate is all part of our Kentish happy family, being just a short stroll down the hill.
I thought it might be from last week's trailer, Radio Times confirms it:
Went to the Sandgate Hotel last night for last orders, and it's very nice! Can't believe we've not been there before. We shared a very nice bottle of Cloudy Bay on the terrace. There's a small but cosy bar inside, as well as restaurants and accomodation. Looking forward to returning.
